Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a new dermatological composition for topical use, its manufacturing process and its applications. Very commonly, tocopherol (vitamin E) is used in low doses as a preservative because of its very powerful antioxidant power.
Vaseline is used in surgery for healing. Zinc, in the form of chloride, sulphate or oxide, is known for its anti-inflammatory and healing effects through its involvement in various cellular energy metabolisms, the synthesis of proteins, certain hormones and nucleic acids. Applicants have developed a new composition with multiple qualities in skin healing and topical anti-inflammatory action. This composition, tocopherol combined with petrolatum and zinc, has complementary properties in cutaneous repair. By the term "tocopherol" is meant not only a tocopherol but also P, x or S tocopherol as well as their mixtures and their derivatives, whether they come from synthesis or natural extraction. Among these, tocopherol esters such as alpha tocopherol acetate, which represents the most important biological activity, may be mentioned. Applicants will retain tocopherol acetate (which is the most active form) as a tocopherol derivative associated with petrolatum and zinc, but in no way limiting with reference to the various forms of tocopherol cited above. The zinc may be in the form of chloride, sulphate or oxide.
35 Exemple 1 : -2- Formulation crème 40 % Tocophérol acétate Vaseline 40 % Zinc 20 % Du poids total de la composition The various constituents above can be used in the composition according to the invention in variable proportions. The present invention contains by weight: From 20 to 90% of tocopherol From 20 to 90% of petrolatum From 0.5 to 30% of zinc - the content of tocopherol acetate in the composition, which is between 20 and 90% by weight, is preferably between 30 and 40% relative to the total weight of the composition. The content of petrolatum in the composition, which is between 20 and 90% by weight, is preferably between 30 and 40% relative to the total weight of the composition. The zinc content in the composition, which is between 0.5 and 30%, is preferably between 20 and 30% relative to the total weight of the composition. The composition according to the invention may be presented in the form of a gel, cream, or any other form customary in topical application. Non-limiting exemplary embodiments are given below to illustrate the invention. Example 1: Cream Formulation 40% Tocopherol Acetate Vaseline 40% Zinc 20% Total Weight of Composition
Exemple 2 : Autre formulation crème Tocophérol acétate 50 % Vaseline 20 % Zinc 30 % Du poids total de la composition Example 2: Other cream formulation Tocopherol acetate 50% Vaseline 20% Zinc 30% of the total weight of the composition
EXAMPLE 4 Gel Formulation for Mucous Sites Tocopherol Acetate 79.5% Vaseline 20% Zinc 0.5% of the total weight of the composition This dermatological composition, object of the present invention based on tocopherol acetate, petrolatum and zinc is usable in therapy. It is presented in topically administrable form and is intended for the treatment of dermatological pathologies, in particular for reducing the post-traumatic or surgical healing time and in inflammatory skin syndromes. tocopherol acetate (vitamin E) has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties. It has a high absorption capacity (when applying tocopherol acetate on the surface of the skin is found 24 hours after 22% of tocopherol in the dermis). This gives it interesting dermatological properties by shortening the skin repair time. In addition, by its very powerful antioxidant action, it is in itself a preservative. It is in the pure edible state and has a shelf life of 12 months after opening without the addition of preservatives for a minimum concentration of 50% of the final composition. Zinc is a powerful antibacterial determinant for its anti-inflammatory role. The new composition will therefore be usable without the addition of any preservative. Vaseline is commonly used in surgery, as a vaginal lubricant or as a food additive (E 905b). Zinc, in the form of sulphate, will be combined with tocopherol and petrolatum at a dose of 0.5% to 3% for restorative repair of mucocutaneous sites without toxicity. Petrolatum is used for its action in the adjunctive treatment of irritation and dry skin lesions. It is also used as lubricant vaginal mucosa without toxicity. Vaseline, which is used in thick-layer surgery, is intended to protect a wound, soften secretions and prevent the formation of crusts.
