Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an assembly of parts for creating volumes based on elementary modules in the form of rhombic dodecahedra, or diamond-shaped twelve-sided polyhedra. The volume targeted by the assembly may represent some or all of structures usable for hulls, open or closed enclosures, walls. The assembly makes it possible to obtain properties of mechanical strength, of liquid or gaseous fluid sealing, of thermal insulation, acoustic insulation and buoyancy. These properties are obtained thanks to a regular spatial structure according to twelve main directions defined by each dodecahedron juxtaposed with one or more neighboring dodecahedra. Depending on the nature and dimensions of the materials used, the average density obtained can be significantly less than 1 and thus to create floating structures. Currently, the supporting structures of the shell or wall panel type are generally made of sheets of various thicknesses, assembled or supported by beams or sections of various sections, with very diverse materials as regards the shapes and nature of the materials. . The types of assemblies are also very varied and usually require specific fastening systems using the techniques of bolting, screwing, riveting, welding, gluing, etc. The diversity of materials, shapes and techniques that must be implemented makes it difficult to simultaneously obtain characteristics such as mechanical resistance, the sealing of liquid or gaseous fluids, thermal insulation, acoustic insulation and buoyancy. The constraints of all kinds result in a complexity in terms of studies, implementation, or even maintenance. For the aforementioned types of constructions, the assembly of the elementary modules according to the invention makes it possible to simplify the studies and the realization thanks to this modular character, while offering the desired characteristics as regards the sealing, the thermal insulation, the weight, the buoyancy, the mechanical resistance to the efforts of all natures including the resistance to the pressure of a fluid and the resistance to shocks. In addition, the costs can be optimized through mass production of the constituent elements of each elementary module. The modular nature also facilitates preventive or corrective maintenance through checks and possible replacement of joints, rhombic elements and other parts. Depending on the total thickness of the wall, a damage created on the structure can be limited to a few modules without jeopardizing the essential functions such as mechanical resistance or sealing. The modular character also facilitates any dimensional changes, for example extensions of structures. Fixings of conventional structures or components are possible on the outer surface. Conventional structures include frames, floors, walkways, stairs, or other structures to support loads or transmit forces.
Considering the outer surface of the dodecahedron, the twelve faces are tangent to a fictional sphere inscribed in the dodecahedron. In the most common cases of industrial applications, the radius of this inscribed sphere will be between 100 and 500 mm with the thickness of the sheet constituting each face of between 1 and 5 mm in the case of a steel structure. The thickness of the sheet must be determined according to the characteristics sought, the materials used and the assembly techniques used. Resistance to mechanical stress depends inter alia on the shape of the rhombic elements and their method of manufacture. A face may be in one or more parts which by assembly give a rhombic shape with the ratio of the large diagonal on the small diagonal close to the number 1.4142 so as to allow the assembly of the dodecahedrons. In theory, the ratio of the diagonals is equal to root of 2. Four fins are bent or reported along the edges of the diamond. Among the functions of these fins, there is the increase of moments of inertia in flexion and torsion, the fixing of the faces between them and the fixing of the joints to the edges and the tops of the dodecahedrons. With respect to a sheet-metal-to-sheet joint, the insertion of elastic flat seals between the sheets facilitates the absorption of the energy created for example by a shock, and makes it possible to improve the thermal insulation and the acoustic insulation. . As far as acoustic insulation is concerned, part of the acoustic energy is absorbed into the structure by successive reflections of the acoustic wave on the faces and fins forming dihedrons inside a dodecahedron. There are at least 48 dihedral within a complete dodecahedron. The thermal and / or acoustic insulation can be improved by suitable coatings on the internal faces of the diamonds and fins. At the same time as the assembly of the faces, fluid lines or for the protection of electric cables can be mounted. This possibility is especially interesting when it is necessary to cross a wall either completely or partially. Depending on the dimensions of the modules, their internal volume can be used to install many power equipment or instrumentation without the need to change the principle of assembly of parts constituting the modules that receive the equipment. The numerous fins offer a variety of possibilities for efficient attachment of equipment.
The final outer surface of the created volume is made with pieces of flat or left shapes fixed on the structure delimited by the complete rhombic dodecahedra with twelve assembled or partial faces if this outer surface requires less than twelve assembled faces.
The technical features of the invention are transposable to other modules based on parallelohedra. This family of polyhedra includes parallelepipeds, hexagonal prisms, truncated octahedra, rhombic dodecahedra and elongated rhombic dodecahedra. These parallelehedrons have the property of paving the space by translations without hole between the modules. The rhombic dodecahedron used in the description of the invention has the main advantage of having faces of identical dimensions while providing a regular spatial structure along six main axes perpendicular to the faces whereas a parallelepiped has only three main axes. This has consequences on the mechanical possibilities of the structure, such as resistance to mechanical stresses. Indeed, given the number of faces, identical construction, the decomposition of external forces on the structure is reflected in lower average solicitations on the faces of the dodecahedra compared to the stresses on the faces of the parallelepipeds.
Les dessins annexés illustrent l'invention. The accompanying drawings illustrate the invention.
Figure 1 shows in perspective an assembly of rhombic parts to form juxtaposed dodecahedra. FIG. 2 is a perspective view of three juxtaposed rhombic pieces making it possible to locate the sections M and BB; FIG. 3 represents a crown seal and its attachment seen along the broken section AA of FIG. 2 FIG. 4 represents a section of dodecahedrons juxtaposed according to FIG. section plane BB of Figure 2. To simplify the diagram, only the joints / dampers are hatched. FIG. 5 shows in perspective a star gasket / damper. The faces (1) of the modules in the form of rhombic dodecahedra consist of a sheet folded along the ridges (7) of the diamond so as to create four fins (2). The faces are assembled by assembling the vanes by screwing, bolting or riveting at the fixing points (3), the number of which depends on the dimensions of the vanes and the chosen joining technique.
A rubber-like flat gasket / shock absorber also having a certain elasticity is inserted beforehand between the fins. The flat gasket / damper is a branch of a gasket whose section is star-shaped (11). Another branch which also serves as a damper is thus inserted between two contiguous faces. This type of seal / damper creates fluid tightness at the edges. For a given edge, a six-pointed star gasket / damper (II) is common to three neighboring dodecahedra. The number of branches is a function of the number of neighboring dodecahedra for a given edge. Figure 4 shows in section examples of joints / dampers (9) with less than six branches. The sealing at the vertices (6) is achieved by means of seals (10) mounted on a frame. These seals are held in abutment against the inside of the faces (1) and against the edge joints (11) by means of a screw-nut system (13). The nut is inserted between the fins which converge towards the relevant vertex of the dodecahedron. These fins serve as support for the nuts to transmit the clamping force. The assembly of two contiguous faces of two neighboring dodecahedra is made at the fixing points (8) by bolting, screwing or riveting. The number of fixing points depends on the dimensions of the faces and the chosen joining technique.
The closing side of a module is in two parts. It is a face (4) recessed in its central part to be able to fix its fins and seal the four peaks. The recess is then closed with a closure plate (5). The final outer surface of the volume created is delimited by the pieces of flat shapes (12) or left attached to the structure delimited by the complete rhombic dodecahedra with twelve assembled or partial faces if this outer surface requires less than twelve assembled faces.
The rhombic parts assembled according to the invention are particularly intended for the construction of supporting structures of the shell or panel type constituting walls for example in shipbuilding or aeronautics. They are also intended for the construction of partitions or enclosures for sound insulation.
