Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a device and a method for storing and restoring a cream product with a cosmetic or pharmaceutical formulation, based as in US Pat. the majority of these products on an aqueous medium favoring application to and absorption by the skin under conditions customary for users. An active ingredient defining the function of the product is formulated in this aqueous medium, for purposes that depend on its nature, cosmetic use being one possibility among others that will be used in the following as a preferred example. The problem that is posed and solved by the present invention is as follows: the molecules of this active ingredient have a life time incompatible, at least in their active form, with storage in an aqueous medium, their properties disappearing rapidly in contact with water, which makes the formulation of said active ingredient in a cosmetic product quite problematic. It is in fact necessary to store the product in a particular form, in which the active ingredient is kept protected from water in one way or another, then to restore it by simultaneously implementing means to make it active in the product at the time of use for which it is intended. To do this, the storage device and restitution of the invention is characterized in that it comprises: - water-proof separation means of the active ingredient and the aqueous medium; storage means in the form of a conditioning bottle in which said active ingredient, protected by said separation means, is mixed homogeneously with the aqueous medium; and - manual means for returning the mixture capable of destroying at the time of expulsion the separation means for releasing the active ingredient in the aqueous medium.
In other words, the active principle is stored in the aqueous medium, since it is formulated, but benefits from the implementation of a barrier allowing it to preserve its active character despite the presence in theory crippling water . Therefore, it is appropriate to destroy, or at least to render inactive, the barrier in question at the time of the return of the product, that is to say, its expulsion from the bottle. The mixture taken by the user, usually directly on the skin, then comprises the principle in its directly active form in a vehicle capable of spreading and rapid absorption by the skin.
According to a preferred configuration, the separation means consist of microbeads consisting of microcapsules or obtained by coating or agglomerates, providing a sealed barrier between at least a portion of the active ingredient and the aqueous medium. The microbeads are intended to protect the active principle of the water, and they are therefore manufactured by a process that does not involve water, and gives them a certain hardness so as to ensure a lifetime compatible with them. commercial constraints attaching to the cosmetic product, guaranteeing at the same time at least the same lifespan to the active ingredients. This hardness must also be controlled so as to allow the destruction of said microbeads during the restitution phase of the active mixture. A compromise must therefore be found between insufficient hardness values, which could compromise the life of the active ingredients, and hardness too high that would lead to a risk of poor return of the active mixture.
According to an example of possible implementation, the microbeads may consist of microcapsules of jojoba. This is a material that meets the constraints set above, because it is waterproof and has a shelf life compatible with those active ingredients generally used in cosmetics or pharmacy.
According to a possibility of the invention, the microbeads have a diameter of between 0.8 and 1.2 mm. This is a value that allows the implementation of systems of restitution / expulsion of the cream available on the market, adaptable to the vials for storing the product, and suitable for the destruction of microbeads. At this stage, the molecule of the active principle is properly incorporated in the aqueous medium, that is to say that the means of their separation are implemented effectively. The microbeads present in the product, however, remain incompatible with daily body care gestures because they cause skin discomfort to the application. The removal of the barrier that it constitutes therefore requires an additional mechanical action aimed at their destruction simultaneously with the return of the product as taken by the user. This is the reason why the manual means of restitution of the device of the invention consist of a pump secured to the bottle, designed to expel the mixture contained in said bottle, and further ensuring destruction of the microbeads during their passage through the pump . The existence of such a pump is that the product is delivered to the consumer without the microbeads are physically present, but on the contrary with the active ingredient released at the time of application. The pump must therefore not only let the microbeads pass through its mechanical system, but also break them before their exit in such a way that said active ingredient is released at the last moment. It must for this purpose comprise a suction inlet orifice whose diameter is greater than the diameter of the microbeads and an orifice or outlet duct discharging the mixture whose diameter is less than or equal to the diameter of the microbeads. According to one possible example, the pump may be of the push-button type and comprise an inlet valve releasing the access, during the release phase of the button, to a storage chamber whose content is at least partially crushed during the pressure phase on the button, and which gives access to a vent of diameter at most equal to that of microbeads. The latter, once entered into the mechanism of the pump, undergo two types of stress, a first mechanical stress in the chamber, and a second constraint of rheological order during suction, which is also analyzed at the same time. less partially in a mechanical stress during the passage in the discharge pipe, which should not be oversized compared to the dimensions of the microbeads. Some types of microbeads enclose the asset, and others agglomerate them. In the latter case, the active ingredient can at least partially be found at the periphery of the microbeads, and thus risk modifying the pH of the product contained in the bottle. It is then necessary that the aqueous medium is buffered to prevent pH variations of the product in contact with this fraction of the active ingredient. The device of the invention is for example entirely suitable for the formulation of anti-aging cosmetic products whose active ingredient is based on or contains negative hydrogen H-, for example with a calcium-based support. It is preferably H-calcium coral. This active molecule has antioxidant properties which are of major interest for the cosmetic industry. But its formulation in aqueous or wet medium causes inactivity after a few dozen hours because, in contact with water, the H- releases an electron, and thus exerts its antioxidant power immediately. However, the obvious interest of this type of cosmetic care products, which are mostly formulated with water, is of course that the active only exerts its antioxidant power on the skin. Moreover, the premature release of H- in the product damages the latter by varying its pH abruptly. The device of the invention is therefore particularly suitable for the formulation of the H- molecule in a cosmetic product containing water, while maintaining its active power intact until the skin meets, the classical gesture of the users of these products, namely restitution by a manual means on the skin and spreading by massage, being moreover preserved.
The H-antioxidant, which for example fights the aging of the skin, can also be incorporated into the invention with a support based on silica. The invention also relates to a method for storing and restoring a cream product with a cosmetic or pharmaceutical formulation applicable on the skin, comprising an aqueous medium for application to and absorption by the skin, in which is formulated an active ingredient whose shelf life is incompatible with storage in such a medium, characterized in that it comprises the following steps: separation of the active ingredient and the aqueous medium by the constitution of microbeads in the form of microcapsules or by coating or agglomerates providing a sealed barrier between at least a portion of the active ingredient and the aqueous medium; storage in a conditioning bottle in which said active ingredient is separated and mixed homogeneously with the aqueous medium; restitution of the active ingredient / aqueous medium mixture by destroying the separation means to release the active ingredient in the aqueous medium at the time of expulsion or application of the product. The single attached figure, FIG. 1, shows an exemplary device according to the invention, the implementation of which makes it particularly possible to store and restore a cosmetic product formulated in an aqueous medium and comprising a short-acting active ingredient. of living in such an environment. With reference to the figure, the H- (1) molecules are integrated within microbeads, for example jojoba (2) about 1 mm in diameter, said spheres being then incorporated into a cosmetic formula (3) containing some water. The bottle (4) for storing the microspheres (2) has a delivery system in the form of a pump (5) which destroys or explodes said microbeads (2), restoring an active mixture (6) in which the molecules H- (1) are directly integrated into the aqueous medium (3). The restored cosmetic product (6) is physically similar to the starting cosmetic product, but with H-active molecules.
The pump (5) chosen has the particularity of having an inlet diameter greater than the diameter of the microbeads (2), these being crushed either by the mechanism of the pump (5) or by a forced suction in a conduit of outlet of diameter less than or equal to the diameter of the microbeads (2). Provided that these criteria are met, different types of pumps (5) can be used, whether ball-type, valve, dip tube, airless, etc. Similarly, the microbeads (2) may be based on materials other than jojoba, or be subject to equivalent protection techniques, for example based on the coating, agglomeration, etc. The process, involving the destruction of the microbeads at the time of application of the cream, includes creams with scrubbing properties involving the crushing of the microbeads at the time of manual application of the cream on the skin.
