Abstract

The module has an input shaft (4) and an output unit e.g. pinion (3) or output shaft, placed inside a case. The input shaft and the output unit are rotatably mounted along a common axis and connected by a torsion rod (6), where the rod is placed along the axis. The input shaft is rotatably guided in the case by an external rolling bearing and in the output unit by an internal journal bearing (12). An annular elastic joint (13) e.g. O-ring joint, is placed between the input shaft and the internal bearing.

Dans le cas d'une direction assistée hydraulique, le module d'assistance constitue une valve d'assistance. Pour d'autres types de directions assistées, l'organe de sortie est un arbre de sortie destiné à être accouplé avec un arbre intermédiaire, lui- même accouplé avec un pignon venant en prise avec une crémaillère de la direction. Dans une direction assistée de véhicule automobile, le couple ou l'effort d'assistance fourni par la direction assistée pour soulager le conducteur du véhicule est asservi au couple exercé par le conducteur sur le volant de conduite du véhicule, aussi désigné comme couple au volant.
