Abstract
This is a hood 9 on a convertible vehicle that can open by tilting forward, by a multiple-arm articulation 13a before comprising at least two arms, and backwards by a joint arm multiple rear 15a comprising at least two arms, for storage of the retractable roof 3. The front and rear multi-arm joints have in common an intermediate part 17a on which said multiple arms are permanently all articulated mounted.
Description
Vehicles with soft top and those with hard top are concerned here. Rigid roofs are particularly so, given the additional problems they pose: clutter of the roof elements, weight and associated kinematics of the roof and the trunk lid.
A cover for such a vehicle is disclosed in EP-1 069 029. A particular problem taken into account here, particularly with respect to this document, relates to a structural and functional embodiment which facilitates the kinematics of the cover, ensures a safe operation. and powerful, and allows a realization and a montage as simple as possible. To satisfy all or part of the aims, it is proposed that the hood can, from a closed state on the vehicle, open by tilting: - forward, via a joint multi-armed front arm comprising at least two arms, the hood then defining a luggage compartment lid, and rearwardly, via a rear multi-armed articulation comprising at least two arms, the hood defining then a roof storage compartment cover under which a retractable roof of the vehicle can be stored, the front and rear multiple arm joints having in common an intermediate piece on which said multiple arms are permanently all hingedly mounted.
The following description further details the invention with reference to illustrated examples where Figure 1 is a side diagram, Figure 2 is a local view from inside the trunk of a rear side thereof, the Figure 3 is a through view from the outside, even more enlarged, Figure 4 shows, in perspective with cutaway and through view, the hood open rearwardly. It is a convertible vehicle 1 retractable hardtop 3 which is presented has a longitudinal axis X passing through the median vertical plane of the vehicle vis-à-vis which the following elements have a symmetry, so that the numerical benchmarks followed by a indicate that there exists such a symmetrical, identified b, as for example symmetrical intermediate elements 17a and 17b. The roof 3 comprises rigid roof elements, such as 30, 300, movable between them and with respect to the body, to close or discover the passenger compartment 7.
Figure 1, the solid roof covers the passenger compartment in the closed position. The roof elements are deployed. The mixed lines show it tidy, folded under the rear cover 9 of the trunk 90 that cover covers in the closed position.
Here, the roof comprises a rear roof element 300, receiving a rear window 310, and a front roof element 30. The roof 3 is articulated on the body 11 by hinge means 12a which may comprise a rear articulation 14a mounted between the body and the rear element 300 and lateral hinge arms (140a) articulated between the body and the roof front element 30. A hinge 16a further connects the front and rear elements 30, 300.
The cover 9 is articulated on the body 11 as follows: First, from a closed state on the vehicle (fig.l), it can open by tilting forwards (figs.2, 3) via a hinge 13a, 13b (see also Fig.4) with multiple front arms comprising at least the two arms such as 130a, 131a for the side illustrated figs.2,3. The hood then defines a boot lid. Then, it can open by swinging backwards (FIG. 4) by means of a rear multi-link articulation 15a, 15b comprising at least the two arms such as 150a, 151a for the same side as here. -above. The hood then defines a roof storage compartment cover 3 which is here in the trunk. The articulations such as 13a, 15a front and rear multiple arms have in common the intermediate member 17a on which said multiple arms are permanently all articulated mounted, as shown.
Fig.l, it is further seen that, hood 9 closed on the body 11, the arms, respectively 130a, 131a and 150a, 151a, front and rear joints are substantially aligned with the intermediate member 17a. This alignment extends substantially horizontally, making an angle X1 less than 20 with the X axis; see right 30a. This allows a saving of space and a favorable positioning on the body. In this respect, closed hood on the vehicle, the arms of the front and rear articulations 13a, 15a and the intermediate element 17a also appear fig.1 arranged substantially horizontally on the body, for the same purpose. These arms are even substantially parallel to each other, in groups: 130a, 131a and 150a, 151a. It is further noted fig.1 that, still closed hood on the vehicle, the front and rear multiple arm joints 13a, 15a and the intermediate element 17a, which are then brought together, extend to a near elevation level. that of the side body belt, such as 110a, which they then border; see also fig.2 for 15a. In this respect, the aforementioned characteristics associated with the intermediate element 17a favor favorable positioning of each assembly 13a, 15a, 17a with respect to this lateral belt which may in particular be a function of the shape of the hood (more or less flat), of the inner shape of the rear wing liners, that of the trunk .... In the figures, the intermediate element such as 17a appears further rectilinear in the direction of its length, here parallel to X. It extends favorably exclusively under a limited portion before 900 of the hood which is less than half the length L1 of this hood following X. This is also favorable to the compactness and promotes a wide release of space for both the passage of the roof and for the access to luggage. Nevertheless, it is recommended that one, and a priori two, balancer (s) 21a effort, 21b (fig.4) acting for the opening of the hood 9 forward is hingedly attached to the hood - directly or not and on the intermediate element concerned, 17a, 17b, here directly and to the rear. Each intermediate element, which may be an angle iron, serves here as a support plate, bonnet closed or open forwards (figs.l to 3), while then bearing on a support of the box, such as 19a for l element 17a. In particular fig.l, it will also be noted that the articulated fasteners, on the intermediate part, such as 17a, said arms of the front and rear articulations 13a, 15a are respectively located in a first and second zones, respectively 20a and 23a. In a third zone 25a, arms, here the two arms, 150a, 151a of the illustrated rear articulation are further respectively hingedly attached to an intermediate piece 24a fixed on the body 11, here the inside of the wing rear 27a. A direct articulation of these arms on the body would be possible. As shown figs.l, 2, the attachment zones 20a, 23a, 25a are substantially aligned with each other, the hood closed on the vehicle or open towards the front, in the immediate vicinity of the straight line 30a. Taking into account in particular the relative compactness of the intermediate element 17a, and even to promote the aforementioned research compactness and ease of installation on the body 11, arms, here the two arms, 150a, 151a, the rear articulation 15a are, opposite their articulation on the element 17a, hingedly fixed to this body, or preferably on the intermediate part 24a. This takes place at several distinct zones marked respectively 290a, 291a figs.2,3. Hood closed on the vehicle or open towards the front, these areas are all located at the rear of the rear end 170a of the intermediate element 17a illustrated fig.1,2. In the same context, it is advisable that arms, and here again the two arms 150a, 151a, of the rear multiple-arm articulation are hingedly fixed as above, at 290a, 291a, at the location therefore of several separate zones all located at a distance from the rear end 910 of the box, see in particular fig.2. The zones 290a, 291a are close to each other, which is also favorable for achieving the aforementioned objectives. It will also be noted that the arms of the front joints, such as 130a, 131a, will be hingedly attached to the cap 9 or to a support piece 28a fixed thereto. Regarding now as the front knuckles such as 13a and rear such 15a, it is advised that they each define a deformable quadrilateral, respectively front and rear. Favorably, each quadrilateral will consist exclusively of the two arms, such as respectively 130a, 131a and 150a, 151a, as hinge elements standing substantially vertically in the open position of the hood after tilting (see Figs.2-4). Locally, the parts or elements 17a, 24a or 28a define the other two sides of the quadrilaterals. Preferably, for a good opening of the hood 9 rearward favorable to the passage of the roof, without complication of the system, articulated arm (s) or arms aforementioned (e) s said front and rear joints such 13a, 15a will define two opposed elongated sides which will be such that the opposite elongated sides, here 150a, 151a, of the rear quadrilateral are each longer than each of those, here 130a, 131a, of the front quadrilateral; see for example fig.3.
The complementary views of FIGS. 1 to 4 also make it possible to understand that, favorably, the front and rear multiple-arm joints, such as 13a, 15a, which therefore have in common the intermediate element 17a, will together define a first sub-component. 300a joint assembly of the cover 9 doubled by a second identical subassembly 300b, including the elements 13b, 15b, 17b. And to tend towards the congestion limitation goals, ease of access to luggage, release of a wide space for the passage of the roof, it will mount favorably on the body these subassemblies 300a, 300b of articulation of the hood of so that, in the closed state of this hood, they are located in the immediate vicinity respectively of the lateral edge 90a and the opposite side edge 90b of the hood and the trunk, as illustrated in Fig.2,4, together. In addition, these two subassemblies will be structurally independent of one another, without transverse link element extending across the body. From FIGS. 1, 2 and 4 taken together, it will also be noted that, at least for its immobilization on the body 11 in the closed position, the cover 9 preferably carries, towards the rear, a lock, here central, releasable at snap 33 and, in the intermediate side part, on each side, two motorized locking assemblies 35a, 35b. The releasable locking of the latter and that of the snap lock 33 will be released for opening the hood by tilting backwards. Otherwise the locks 35a, 35b will be engaged. The snap lock 33 will be further released for opening the hood by tilting forward, as understood from figs.2,3. 4, the two complementary parts of the latch 33, respectively on the hood and on the body (or a part immobilized on its closed cover) are shown diagrammatically at 330, 331.
Preferably, only two motorized locking assemblies 35a, 35b will be mounted laterally, in the intermediate longitudinal portion of the trunk, favoring isostatism and thus simplifying the actuating mechanisms and kinematics.
Les vérins restent comprimés.25 Favorably, the snap lock 33 will be connected: - for its manual unlocking and an opening of the cover 9 to the front, to an external control member 37 mounted externally on the cover and manually operable from outside the cover, - and, for its automated unlocking and hood opening to the rear, to a motorized control 38 located inside the vehicle. The motorized control 38 will be favorably triggerable from the passenger compartment. From figs.l and 2, it is also noted that the motorized locking assembly 35a (idem for 35b, fug.4) is advantageously positive type. Here, fig.2, it comprises a striker 350a fixed to (under) the intermediate element 17a which, both closed hood and open towards the front, is supported on the support 19a of the body. The striker is then locked by the motorized pivot hook 351a mounted on the body or an intermediate piece attached thereto. On each side of the trunk 90, a power actuator 39a, 39b (FIG. 4) acts to open, a priori without any manual action, the cover 9 if this opening has to operate towards the rear for a passage of the roof. 3, the power actuator 39a, which may be a double-acting cylinder, appears articulated at one end on one of the arms of the rear multi-link articulation 15a, in particular the lower arm 151a, and, at the other end, on the piece 24a. Releasable locks may be needed to immobilize the intermediate elements 17a, 17b vis-à-vis the cover 9, at least when opening the latter rearward, or even closed cover. These latches, shown diagrammatically at 41a, 41b fig.4, can be established between the cover 9 (or each intermediate piece 28a) and the intermediate element 17a, 17b concerned. This will be favorably releasable positive locking means. They may be arranged between the hood and some at least multiple front arms, such as 130a, 130b. In a possible solution, these locking means will release said immobilization for the opening of the hood forward, and means (reminder in particular) will place them in their locked state when the hood is closed and for opening from the latter to the back. They will be unlocked via the external control member 37 connected to them. Alternatively, each power actuator 39a, 39b may have, at the beginning of the hood opening action to the rear, a dead stroke to lock these means 41a, 41b only for this opening. For such rear opening of the cover, the snap lock 33 is released automatically via the motorized control 38. The side locks 35a, 35b are also released. They too can be motorized and automatically controlled from inside the vehicle and in particular the cockpit. The opening of the cover is then ensured by the deployment of the actuators 39a, 39b (fig.4). Only the rear joints (quadrilaterals) 15a, 15b unfold. The intermediate elements 17a, 17b are spaced from their supports 19a, 19b and are then immobilized vis-àvis the hood by the balancers which remain compressed. By cons, to open the hood forward, it will release the snap lock 33 by a manual action on the outer control member 37. The opening is then aided by the force balancers 21a, 21b. Only the front joints (quadrilaterals) 13a, 13b unfold. The others, 15a, 15b, remain (substantially) fixed, quadrilateral folded. Side latches 35a, 35b remain engaged. The cylinders remain compressed.
