The present invention relates to a hand tool for straightening small impacts on a body. The principle is that of a portable vacuum pump equipped with an interchangeable suction cup. So far, these impacts are straightened by hammering the sheet or using a tool called nail puller that deteriorate the paint and generate significant work time. The device according to the invention overcomes these disadvantages. It has several features.
A first characteristic:
The body of the vacuum pump consists of a cylinder terminated by an interchangeable tip corresponding to different shapes and sizes of impacts. It is equipped with a revolver trigger handle, connected to a compressed air hose. This cylinder is divided into two chambers, a rear compression chamber, a decompression chamber before. They are each equipped with a movable piston, secured to each other by an axis through the partition wall. All adaptable end caps are terminated by a rubberized gasket with the bodywork In order to perfectly adapt to the different forms of the bodies, they are equipped inside with an interchangeable grooved form. At rest, the two pistons are in the lower position in each chamber. The trigger releases the compressed air under the piston of the rear compression chamber, pushing it violently upwards. In this same movement, it drives the piston of the chamber before decompression to create a vacuum in front of it, especially in the tip which then behaves like a sucker sucking the pressed sheet until the stop of the grooved form. The trigger also releases the compressed air into the decompression chamber to return the pistons to the rest position.
The accompanying drawings illustrate the invention: Figure 1 shows an overview of the invention. Figures 2 and 3 show, in section, the device of the invention. FIGS. 7, 8 and 9 represent the diversity of the suction cups. With reference to these drawings, the device comprises a cylindrical tube (1) equipped, in the front part, with a tip (2) in the form of a sealed funnel and screwed onto the cylinder, the other part of the funnel has a cone-shaped constriction to fit the suction cup (3) of its choice by a rotational movement creating the seal On the cylindrical tube is fixed a handle (5) provided an air duct (6) and a trigger (7) double action: actuated downwards the air is directed by a pipe in the compression chamber (9), a pressure pushes the piston (11) ) backwards, this piston is equipped with an adjustable valve (15); the two pistons are equipped with hermetic seals (17) In the vacuum chamber (8) a piston (10) equipped with a seal (17); at the rear of this chamber, holes (12) are provided to the outside in order to prevent the piston from slowing down by a phenomenon of compression of the trapped air. An axle (13) is fixed to the piston (10) passing through the partition (14) separating the two chambers (8 and 9) on which a seal seals; this axis being connected at the other end to the piston (11) in the compression chamber (9) which is equipped with a seal sealing between the piston (11) and the body (1).
A variant of the system (Figure 4 front view) allows to separate the tip of the vacuum pump to improve the maneuverability and efficiency. The body of the vacuum pump is connected by a flexible conduit to an ergonomic handle equipped with a trigger. The adaptable tips are attached to this handle. This variant also makes it easy to transport the system by attaching the vacuum pump to the belt or by wearing it over the shoulder.
A second characteristic Without modifying the operating principle, this second characteristic is distinguished from the first by the replacement of the compressed air mechanism by an electric or electromagnetic mechanism. The piston of the compression chamber disappears in favor of an electric motor actuated by the switch of the handle. The motor drives a worm connected to the piston of the decompression chamber by an axis movable through the partition. This mechanism allows to raise the piston of the chamber before decompression to create a vacuum in front of it, resulting in the actions and results already described in the first feature. The switch of the handle also reverses the rotation of the electric motor to reposition the decompression piston in the rest position.
The attached drawings illustrate the invention FIG. 5 represents an overall view of the invention FIG. 6 represents, in section, the device of the invention FIGS. 7, 8 and 9 represent a part of the various suction cups Referring to FIG. these drawings, the device comprises:
A cylindrical tube (1) provided with a strap to fix it to the waist; inside, two partitions (14) perforated to allow air to escape freely during operation, fixed by screws (18) to the tube, equipped with a recess for mounting the bearings (19) of the engine electric (20) with an oversized axis (21) hollow and threaded along its entire length.
During operation of the electric motor, a bearing at each end thereof prevents friction during rotational movements. On the partition (14) a key (22) is inserted to slide on the groove of the axis (13) to avoid turning on itself. This pin (13) connected to a piston (10) equipped with a seal (17) which, when moving rearward, creates a suction in the chamber (8); the latter being connected to a handle (5) by a flexible tube and an electric wire (23); this handle is equipped with a conical tip with an O-ring where the various suction cups (3) fitted with shapes (4) in the middle fit together. These shapes (4) are grooved towards the center so that the air trapped or sucked into the cylinder and provided with a rubber lip to seal and protect the paint.
The opposite effect can be obtained by actuating, in the other direction, the switch (7) on the handle (5) which changes the direction of rotation of the electric motor.
A variant of this system is provided by maintaining the same operation but replacing the electric motor by an electromagnet mechanism.
