Abstract

The sorter, designed to be fitted e.g. to a straddling grape harvester (1) with a hopper (2) at the lower end of an inclined conveyor (3) leading to a chute (6) that delivers the grapes to a storage container (7), has a platform (9) for one or more operatives on at least one side of the conveyor that allows any spoilt grapes to be spotted and removed. A second platform (11) that is offset along the conveyor and higher than the first one supports a container (10) for holding the spoilt grapes. The harvester can have a conveyor, hopper and platforms on each side, or they can be mounted on a following trailer, and the speed of the conveyor can be adjusted according to the quality of grapes being harvested.
