Il consiste en un rainage de cette plaque de matière 20 première, selon deux axes. Ces ramnages ont une profondeur correspondant à une fraction de l'épaisseur totale de la plaque. Ces rainages ont des bords présentant une contre dépouille. La découpe de la plaque se fait ensuite selon les rainages usinés, selon un angle correspondant à celui de la contre dépouille des bords du rainage. Les éléments ainsi obtenus se correspondent sur un ou plusieurs de leurs bords. Une surface homogène de couverture ou de bardage pourra ainsi être obtenue par emboîtement de ces éléments indépendants les uns dans les autres, la partie épargnée des rainages 5 constituant alors un recouvrement du ou des éléments sur celui ou ceux situés en dessous. La stabilité et la bonne tenue de chacun des éléments sont rendus possibles verticalement et horizontalement par l'appui sur deux des éléments inférieurs. Cette monte en quinconce est un deuxième aspect de l'invention.
