Abstract
La présente invention concerne un dispositif (1) pour l'apprentissage par un opérateur d'une technique manuelle, mettant en oeuvre un outil manipulé pour agir sur un objet à travailler, comportant au moins un organe de préhension (20) destiné à être manipulé par l'opérateur, faisant office d'outil, au moins un élément de visualisation (10) faisant office d'objet à travailler et permettant de simuler le comportement de l'objet lors du travail de l'opérateur, au moins un dispositif de détection (30) apte à détecter un déplacement de l'organe de préhension par rapport à l'élément de visualisation, et des moyens informatiques (40) reliés au dispositif de détection et agencés pour provoquer l'affichage sur l'élément de visualisation du comportement simulé de l'objet en fonction des manipulations de l'organe de préhension.

La présente invention concerne l'apprentissage d'une technique manuelle et plus particulièrement, mais non exclusivement, du soudage à l'arc.
Le soudage à l'arc est une technique difficile car le soudeur doit contrôler à la fois la distance entre l'électrode et la pièce à souder et la vitesse de déplacement de l'électrode, le tout dans une position souvent inconfortable et dans un environnement de bruit, température et luminosité difficiles.
Un débutant peut par ailleurs être impressionné par les étincelles générées lors de la soudure, qui gênent l'observation de la pièce.
Une autre difficulté dans l'apprentissage de la technique de soudage à l'arc réside dans le fait que la qualité de la soudure ne peut s'apprécier qu'une fois l'opération de soudage terminée, au moyen d'un examen radiographique.
En raison de toutes ces difficultés, la formation d'un soudeur requiert généralement près de six à huit mois et s'avère relativement coûteuse.
La présente invention vise à faciliter l'apprentissage de la technique de soudage à l'arc et, plus généralement, l'apprentissage de toute technique manuelle mettant en oeuvre un outil manipulé pour agir sur un objet à travailler.
Elle y parvient grâce à un nouveau dispositif de simulation pour l'apprentissage par un opérateur d'une technique manuelle, mettant en oeuvre un outil manipulé pour agir sur un objet à travailler, comportant : - au moins un organe de préhension destiné à être manipulé par l'opérateur, faisant office d'outil,
- au moins un élément de visualisation faisant office d'objet à travailler et permettant de simuler le comportement de l'objet lors du travail de l'opérateur, - au moins un dispositif de détection apte à détecter un déplacement de l'organe de préhension par rapport à l'élément de visualisation, et - des moyens informatiques reliés au dispositif de détection et agencés pour provoquer l'affichage sur l'élément de visualisation du comportement simulé de l'objet en fonction des manipulations de l'organe de préhension.

Grâce à l'invention, la formation de l'opérateur peut s'effectuer dans un environnement virtuel, à un coût moindre.
En particulier, dans le cas de l'apprentissage de la technique de soudage à l'arc, le nombre de séances de formation ayant lieu dans des conditions réelles peut être

fortement diminué, voire limité à la validation de l'entraînement effectué grâce au dispositif de simulation.
De plus, il est possible de faire apparaître sur l'élément de visualisation qui simule le comportement de l'objet lors du travail de l'opérateur des informations n'apparaissant pas dans la réalité.
La matière en fusion peut ainsi être affichée en transparence. Des messages guidant l'opérateur dans son travail, comme par exemple des conseils en temps réel sur la distance à respecter entre l'électrode et l'objet ou la vitesse de déplacement de l'électrode peuvent également être affichés. Il est encore possible d'afficher un spot ou une ligne matérialisant l'emplacement de la soudure à effectuer.
L'opérateur qui s'entraîne peut améliorer rapidement ses gestes car il peut percevoir immédiatement l'incidence de ceux-ci sur la qualité du soudage.
La longueur des cordons de soudage pouvant être réalisés par les opérateurs en formation peut être par exemple d'au moins 40 cm, voire par exemple de 50 cm.
Lorsque le dispositif de simulation est destiné à l'apprentissage de la technique de soudage à l'arc, il est avantageux que l'organe de préhension présente la forme d'une torche de soudage à l'arc.
L'élément de visualisation peut comporter au moins un dispositif d'affichage choisi dans la liste suivante : écran à plasma, écran à tube cathodique, écran à cristaux liquides, vidéo-projecteur, rétroprojecteur, et être éventuellement muni d'un dispositif tactile permettant d'entrer des informations ou de détecter un contact de l'organe de préhension avec l'élément de visualisation.
L'élément de visualisation peut être relié à une structure de support présentant au moins un degré de liberté, afin de permettre de modifier les conditions de travail de l'opérateur et de simuler par exemple des interventions dans différentes positions de l'opérateur et/ou de l'élément de visualisation. L'élément de visualisation peut notamment être relié à une structure de support permettant d'afficher vers le bas afin de simuler une intervention au plafond.
Parmi les situations de travail, on peut citer par exemple le soudage de deux pièces à plat, le soudage de deux pièces faisant entre elles un angle, notamment droit, l'une des deux pièces pouvant être perpendiculaire à un plan horizontal, le soudage vertical de deux pièces situées dans un plan vertical, les deux pièces étant dans le même

plan ou perpendiculaires, le soudage horizontal de pièces situées dans un plan vertical.
L'élément de visualisation peut comporter au moins deux écrans orientés dans des directions différentes pour permettre de simuler le travail sur une structure non plane, notamment le soudage de deux pièces perpendiculaires. En variante, l'élément de visualisation peut comporter un dispositif optique permettant de générer des images dans au moins deux directions différentes, notamment à partir d'un écran unique. Un tel dispositif optique peut comporter une surface réfléchissante.
Le dispositif de détection peut comporter au moins un émetteur positionné sur l'outil de préhension et au moins un récepteur placé à distance de l'outil de préhension.
En variante, le dispositif de détection peut comporter au moins deux caméras agencées de manière à permettre de déterminer, par triangulation, la position de l'organe de préhension.
Le dispositif de détection peut ainsi comporter au moins un capteur optique, magnétique, radiofréquence, électromécanique, électromagnétique.
Le dispositif de simulation peut comporter également des lunettes de vision stéréoscopiques, éventuellement intégrées à un masque de soudeur, l'élément de visualisation étant agencé pour afficher des images adaptées.
Le dispositif de simulation peut encore comporter au moins un haut-parleur relié aux moyens informatiques, ces derniers étant agencés pour lui transmettre des signaux sonores simulant les conséquences auditives du déplacement de l'organe de préhension.
L'invention a encore pour objet un procédé pour l'apprentissage d'une technique manuelle, notamment du soudage à l'arc, comportant les étapes suivantes : a) visualiser, sur un poste informatique de formation relié à des moyens informatiques, des données prédéfinies telles que par exemple des consignes concernant un exercice à effectuer, b) manipuler un organe de préhension faisant office d'outil par rapport à un élément de visualisation faisant office d'objet à travailler, les moyens informatiques permettant de simuler sur l'élément de visualisation le travail effectué par l'opérateur, c) visualiser sur un poste informatique de contrôle, relié aux moyens informatiques, au moins une partie du résultat de la simulation.
Ainsi, il est possible à un formateur chargé de la formation de plusieurs

opérateurs de contrôler, par exemple en temps réel, sur son poste de contrôle le travail effectué par l'un au moins des opérateurs et, le cas échéant, de provoquer l'affichage, sur l'élément de visualisation servant à la formation de cet opérateur, de conseils pour guider l'opérateur dans sa tâche.
Le poste de contrôle peut également afficher des données que l'opérateur ne peut percevoir sur l'élément de visualisation correspondant, telles que par exemple l'état du bain de fusion, les caractéristiques de la soudure, la distance de la torche à la pièce, la vitesse de déplacement de la torche, l'inclinaison de la torche ou afficher une image radiographique simulée.
Le dispositif de simulation peut se présenter en version monoposte, auquel cas le poste de contrôle peut éventuellement être confondu avec le poste de formation, ou en version multipostes, auquel cas le dispositif de simulation comporte plusieurs postes de formation dédiés aux opérateurs en formation et un poste de contrôle dédié au formateur.
Le dispositif de simulation peut être agencé pour enregistrer le travail de chacun des opérateurs, afin de permettre la visualisation des enregistrements par le formateur au poste de contrôle et/ou par des opérateurs aux postes de formation correspondants.
Le dispositif de visualisation peut être agencé pour évaluer de manière automatique le travail accompli par un opérateur.
L'invention peut permettre l'apprentissage de toute technique de soudage, notamment de soudage semi-automatique ou le soudage à l'arc avec électrode enrobée.
L'invention sera mieux comprise à la lecture de la description détaillée qui va suivre, d'exemples de mise en oeuvre non limitatifs, et à l'examen du dessin annexé, qui fait partie intégrante de la description, et sur lequel : - la figure 1 est une vue schématique d'un dispositif d'apprentissage conforme à l'invention,
- la figure 2 représente de manière schématique un masque de protection équipé de lunettes de vision stéréoscopique et d'un haut-parleur, - la figure 3 est une vue schématique d'un dispositif d'apprentissage monoposte, - la figure 4 est une vue schématique d'un dispositif d'apprentissage

multipostes, et - la figure 5 est une vue schématique d'un élément de visualisation équipé d'un dispositif optique permettant de générer des images sur une surface non plane.
On a représenté sur la figure 1 un dispositif d'apprentissage 1 comportant un élément de visualisation 10 faisant office de pièce à travailler, un organe de préhension 20 faisant office d'outil à manipuler, un dispositif de détection 30 et des moyens informatiques 40.
Le dispositif de simulation 1 est destiné dans l'exemple représenté à l'apprentissage de la technique de soudage à l'arc et l'organe de préhension 20 présente la forme d'une torche de soudage à l'arc.
Le dispositif de visualisation 10 comporte dans l'exemple considéré un écran à tube cathodique 11 porté par une structure de support 12 laquelle permet un réglage en position de l'écran 11 autour d'un axe X horizontal ainsi qu'un réglage en hauteur, afin, par exemple, de positionner l'écran 11 de manière à afficher vers le bas et simuler un travail au plafond. Bien entendu, l'invention n'est pas limitée à l'utilisation d'un écran à tube cathodique et d'autres technologies peuvent être utilisées, par exemple un écran à plasma.
Le dispositif de détection 30 comporte un émetteur radiofréquence 31 situé à l'extrémité distale de la torche de soudage et au moins un récepteur 32 capable de recevoir les signaux de l'émetteur 31 afin de déterminer la position de celui-ci par rapport à l'écran 11. De préférence, on utilisera un émetteur 31 et plusieurs récepteurs 32, de manière à déterminer précisément, par triangulation, la position de l'émetteur 31.
L'émetteur 31 peut être relié par un câble 33 à l'un au moins des récepteurs 32.
Bien entendu, l'invention n'est pas limitée à des moyens particuliers pour déterminer la position de l'extrémité distale de l'organe de préhension 20 par rapport à l'écran 11 et l'on peut, sans sortir du cadre de la présente invention, utiliser tout moyen de détection connu, par exemple un couple de caméras vidéo.
Le ou les récepteurs 32 sont reliés aux moyens informatiques 40. Ces derniers sont agencés pour commander l'affichage sur le dispositif de visualisation 10 du comportement simulé de l'objet au cours de la soudure, et notamment simuler la génération d'étincelles ou de fumée lors du soudage, la formation d'un cordon de soudure et la déformation éventuelle des pièces.

Avantageusement, l'opérateur en formation est équipé d'un masque de soudeur 50 tel que celui représenté à la figure 2, celui-ci étant muni par exemple d'un haut-parleur 52, relié aux moyens informatiques 40, ces derniers étant agencés pour simuler également l'environnement acoustique.
Les moyens informatiques 40 peuvent être agencés pour commander l'affichage d'images permettant une vision en relief, le masque 50 étant dans ce cas équipé de lunettes de vision stéréoscopique 51.
Le dispositif de simulation l peut présenter une configuration monoposte comme illustré à la figure 3, comprenant outre le dispositif de visualisation 10 et les moyens informatiques 40, un poste de contrôle 60 permettant notamment à un formateur de contrôler le fonctionnement du dispositif de visualisation 10, de suivre le travail d'un opérateur en formation, et éventuellement de provoquer l'affichage sur le dispositif de visualisation de messages visant à faciliter la tâche de l'opérateur. Le poste de contrôle 60 peut également servir à diffuser préalablement au travail de l'opérateur des consignes concernant un exercice à effectuer.
Le dispositif de simulation 1 peut également présenter une configuration multipostes comme illustré à la figure 4, comportant un poste de contrôle 60 et une pluralité de postes de formation 70 dédiés aux opérateurs en formation et sur lesquels ceux-ci peuvent prendre connaissance, avant de s'entraîner au soudage, de l'exercice à accomplir et de conseils sur la manière d'effectuer celui-ci et, après l'entraînement, de commentaires concernant leur travail. Dans la configuration multipostes, le dispositif de simulation comporte une pluralité de dispositifs de visualisation 10, pouvant être associés chacun à des moyens informatiques 40 spécifiques.
En variante, les moyens informatiques 40 peuvent être communs à tous les dispositifs de visualisation 10. Les postes de formation 70, de contrôle 60 et les dispositifs de visualisation 10 peuvent communiquer entre eux par l'intermédiaire d'un réseau 80.
L'invention n'est pas limitée à une manière particulière de réaliser le dispositif de visualisation 10.
A titre d'exemple, on a représenté à la figure 5 un dispositif de visualisation qui comporte un dispositif optique 90 comprenant une surface réfléchissante 91, afin d'afficher au moyen d'un écran 11 unique des images sur une surface non plane, par

exemple sur deux parois orthogonales dépolies lia et llb, afin de simuler le soudage horizontal de deux pièces perpendiculaires entre elles. Le miroir 91 renvoie l'image d'une moitié de l'écran 11 sur la paroi lia. Des lentilles de focalisation peuvent, le cas échéant, être ajoutées.
Bien entendu, l'invention n'est pas limitée à l'apprentissage de la technique de soudage à l'arc et s'applique à l'apprentissage de toute technique manuelle telle que par exemple la chirurgie ou la peinture au pistolet.
Dans le cas de l'apprentissage de la technique de soudage à l'arc, l'outil est déplacé par rapport à l'objet sans exercer de pression sur l'objet, mais on ne sort pas du cadre de la présente invention lorsque la simulation fait intervenir, outre le déplacement de l'outil par rapport à l'objet, la mesure d'une pression de contact de l'outil sur l'objet.
Claims (10)
1. Dispositif (1) pour l'apprentissage par un opérateur d'une technique manuelle, mettant en oeuvre un outil manipulé pour agir sur un objet à travailler, comportant : - au moins un organe de préhension (20) destiné à être manipulé par l'opérateur, faisant office d'outil, - au moins un élément de visualisation (10) faisant office d'objet à travailler et permettant de simuler le comportement de l'objet lors du travail de l'opérateur, - au moins un dispositif de détection (30) apte à détecter un déplacement de l'organe de préhension par rapport à l'élément de visualisation, et - des moyens informatiques (40) reliés au dispositif de détection et agencés pour provoquer l'affichage sur l'élément de visualisation du comportement simulé de l'objet en fonction des manipulations de l'organe de préhension.
2. Dispositif selon la revendication précédente, caractérisé par le fait que l'organe de préhension (20) présente la forme d'une torche de soudage à l'arc.
3. Dispositif selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, caractérisé par le fait que l'élément de visualisation comporte au moins un dispositif d'affichage choisi dans la liste suivante : écran à plasma, écran à tube cathodique, écran à cristaux liquides, vidéo-projecteur, rétroprojecteur.
4. Dispositif selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, caractérisé par le fait que l'élément de visualisation est relié à une structure de support (12) présentant au moins un degré de liberté.
5. Dispositif selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, caractérisé par le fait que le dispositif de détection comporte au moins un émetteur (31) positionné sur l'outil de préhension et au moins un récepteur (32) placé à distance de l'outil de préhension.
6. Dispositif selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, caractérisé par le fait qu'il comporte des lunettes de vision stéréoscopiques, l'élément de visualisation étant agencé pour afficher des images adaptées.
7. Dispositif selon la revendication 6, caractérisé par le fait que les lunettes de vision stéréoscopiques sont intégrées à un masque de soudeur.
8. Dispositif selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes,

caractérisé par le fait qu'il comporte au moins un haut-parleur relié aux moyens informatiques, ces derniers étant agencés pour lui transmettre des signaux sonores simulant les conséquences auditives du déplacement de l'organe de préhension.
9. Procédé pour l'apprentissage d'une technique manuelle, notamment du soudage à l'arc, comportant les étapes suivantes : a) visualiser, sur un poste informatique de formation (60 ; 70) relié à des moyens informatiques (40), des données prédéfinies telles que par exemple des consignes concernant un exercice à effectuer, b) manipuler un organe de préhension (20) faisant office d'outil par rapport à un élément de visualisation faisant office d'objet à travailler, les moyens informatiques permettant de simuler sur l'élément de visualisation le travail effectué par l'opérateur, c) visualiser sur un poste informatique de contrôle, relié aux moyens informatiques, au moins une partie du résultat de la simulation.
10. Procédé selon la revendication précédente, caractérisé par le fait que le travail de chacun des opérateurs est enregistré puis visualisé par un formateur au poste de contrôle et/ou par le ou les opérateurs en formation au (x) poste (s) de formation correspondant (s).
