Abstract

The unit consists of a sleeve (1) in a circular form made from an elastomer which is placed coaxially in the flow path of a conduit and a metallic butterfly valve (2) made up of two parts, a blanking disc (20) and a fixed shaft (22) mounted to rotate within the sleeve (1) about an axis (21) and a detachable part (23) that screws into a threaded portion of the valve when positioned. The sleeve is coated on its inside with a bed of high density polymer to make the seal inert.
