Abstract

The two handles of the exerciser are made from a foam covering (11, 12) over the curved ends (9, 10) of a metal rod (8), the centre portion of which is coiled into a spiral spring (7) inside a supple plastic covering (18), which can be extended to cover the whole of the metal rod. The central spring can also be enclosed in a plastic housing in two halves (13, 14), each having a tubular projection at least 5 cm long covering the adjacent portion of the metal rod. The plastic covering the central spring is of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) at least 0.3 mm thick.
