Abstract

Existing systems allow the substrate to escape sideways as the load carrying wheel or ski passes over the surface of e.g. wheels on sand or skis on water or snow. This wastes power in throwing material sideways and building it up ahead. The proposed drum (P) has side flanges which prevent the sideways escape of the surface material (S1,S2). and throw it forward in the path of the rotating wheel, where it is compacted. Shaped ridges are embodied on the drum surface between the rims, and the depth and slope of the flanges and ridges specified for the surface.

Description

The present invention relates to a device for improving the efficiency of dynamic support means (shoes, wheels, tires, skis, snowshoes, shells, etc.), designed to e-olute on soft substrates. moving or fluid (dry or wet sand, gravel, mud. water. etc.

Habitually. the supports on these substrates are produced by increasing the bearing surface of the support means in adequacy with the weight and the speed of the Inasse to be moved. So, in terms of example. wider sandals are used for walking in sand or snow. we deflate the tires of the v vehicles, we use wide skis to slide on the water.

The drawback is linked to the displacement of the particles constituti-es of the components of the support substrate ct to the energy necessary for this displacement (walking in the sand. Boats, etc.).

The present invention intends to remedy this drawback by proposing a device the principle of which is to prevent the particles of the substrate from being driven from their initial location under the action of the pressure of the support means.

For this purpose. the device consists of the establishment of physical barriers or edges opposing the movement of the particles. Thus, when pressure is exerted on the moving substrate, its constituent elements cannot escape laterally and are forced to remain under the force exerted.

This is of course a function of the physical characteristics of the support substrate and in particular of its fluidity and its coinpressibility.

The accompanying drawings illustrate the invention:
I, a FIG. 1 represents in section the displacement of the particles of the substrate under the action of a pressure.

Figure 2 shows in section the absence of movement when using the device.

Figure 3 shows the basic element of the device.

FIG. 4 shows for example the upper part of the tread of a tire.

- the support surface is an interface between two elements sand / air, water / air
Under the effect of the pressure, the particles S1 and S2 are driven forward then on the sides, the support means making a passage with the grain of the material constituting the support substrate. It therefore sinks more or less by taking the place of the chased particles - Figure I
- with an equal support surface on the ground, the use of the device described traps the particles which are forced to remain under the support means without being able to escape - Figure 2.

According to particular embodiments of the device and with reference to these drawings, it is noted that the basic element is a gutter composed of the following elements
the edges (1). the bottom (2), the ridge (3) and the sides (4) - Figure 3
According to the greater or lesser fluidity and the greater or lesser compressibility of the material of the support substrate (S). the edges (1). of the support means (P) will be more or less high and more or less fine. It is against its sides (4) that v abut the particles S 1, S2. support material (S) - Figure 1.

- the sides (4) are more or less inclined depending on the characteristics of the substrate (S) and the qualities required by the support means (P), in particular that of being able to pass from a support substrate (S) to another with different characteristics.

- The size of the basic element can vary from the size of the support means (P). This basic element can be on a 1/1 scale. that is to say that there is an element by means of support (P). or be adapted to different soils or uses and there may be 2 or more per support (p).

- the bottom (2) is a line or a surface.

- the edge (3) can be sharp or dull
Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will emerge from the description of an exemplary embodiment given below by way of indication: a tire for rolling on dry sand - Figure 4.

The tire tread consists of several longitudinal gutters joined to each other to form a geometric succession of grooves with truncated "V" sections. The depth of the grooves being 1, the spacing between the grooves is substantially 2. or more - Figure 4.

The inclination of the branches of the "V" is about 300 relative to the vertical (angle AOB) but may vary depending on different criteria specific to the use of the tire.

Height transverse partitions (5) partition the grooves into cells to allow the compacting effect in the longitudinal direction but also to ensure the grip of the tire in the compacted sand and avoid slippage.

The angulation of these separations (5) is between 30 and 600 can relate to the vertical (COD angle).

The rest of the tire is combined with known techniques and does not form part of the present invention
Optimizing the foundation of the running surface is an area of experimentation but must respond to the very principle of the inventive device. In particular, separations. the bottom of the cells can be asymmetrical to meet the requirements of sand evacuation.

The size of the val-ic cells according to the nature of the sand and the desired effect on different soils.

In short, it is a hollow or female tire, compared to existing tires which are in relief or male.
