Abstract

The knife sharpener comprises a support (6) in which rotate spindles (3) fixed to conical cutting wheels (1). The sharpening cones are rotated during passage of a blade (8) between the rubber mountings (2) and thus work over all their periphery. Two springs (4) held by plugs (5) exert a pressure on the cutting wheels through thrust pads (7). A play exists between the support and the rubber mountings to allow adaptation to different thicknesses of blade when the springs are compressed. The rubber mountings ensure guidance and protection of the blade at a guaranteed constant sharpening angle.. The sharpener provides precise blade guidance at the same guaranteed angle and gives protection against scratches.
