Description

ARTICLE COMPOSITE COMPRENANT UNE COUCHE INTERIEURE DE
TISSU ET UNE COUCHE EXTERIEURE D'UN MATéRIAU MICRO
FIBREUX NON TISSE.
COMPOSITE ARTICLE COMPRISING AN INTERNAL LAYER OF
FABRIC AND AN OUTER LAYER OF A MICRO MATERIAL
FIBROUS NON WOVEN.

The present invention relates to a composite article comprising an outer layer of a microfibrous material, nonwoven, advantageous in the field of interior decoration and transport.

Microfibrous, nonwoven materials generally consisting of polyester or polyamide microfibers, for example, nylon-6 microfibers, in a polyurethane matrix, are known in the art.

Among these materials, that formed by microfibers of poly (ethylene terephthalate) in a polyurethane matrix is a valuable product, widely used, particularly in the clothing industry, thanks to its excellent characteristics of appearance, of "hand", light weight, velvety, and its stability in the presence of light and nitrogen oxides present in the atmosphere.

In accordance with the present invention, such microfibrous, nonwoven materials are coupled to a fabric to provide novel composite materials which, because of their extremely favorable aesthetic appearance combined with their good mechanical properties, find use in the field of interior decoration and in the field of transport.

In view of the foregoing, the present invention relates to a composite article comprising an outer layer of a microfibrous, nonwoven fabric, and an inner layer of fabric. Advantageously, these layers are coupled by means of the multi-point coupling technique, or by means of the flame coupling technique or the film coupling technique or the coupling technique. by "liquid adhesive agent".

In a practical embodiment of the present invention, the nonwoven microfibers material is perforated with holes of different shapes, is coupled to a fabric either dyed or printed, so that articles are obtained which, in addition to their mechanical strength, have particular aesthetic effects.

In the present invention, the term "microfibers" means fibers which have a titer of between 0.01 denier and 0.40 denier and, preferably, of the order of 0.08 to 0.15 denier.

- on broie ladite feuille composite microfibreuse
The microfibrous, nonwoven material formed from poly (ethylene terephthalate) microfibers in polyurethane can be obtained by a process comprising, generally, the following steps:
- it impregnates with a polyurethane elastomer a
non-woven fabric formed of polyfoam microfibre
ethylene rephthalate)
said polyurethane elastomer is coagulated so as to
to form a microfibrous composite sheet
said microfibrous composite sheet is ground
to form a non-woven microfibrous raw fabric
and
the non-woven microfibrous raw material is dyed to
get a final product dyed.

The nonwoven fabric of poly (ethylene terephthalate) microfibers can be obtained in turn from a raw fiber of cut fiber consisting of poly (ethylene terephthalate) microfibers embedded in a polystyrene matrix, said raw felt being subjected to needling to obtain a needle felt, said needled felt being first treated with an aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol and then with perchlorethylene, so that the polystyrene matrix dissolve and the nonwoven fabric of microfibres poly (ethylene terephthalate) is recovered.

The microfibrous, nonwoven material obtained in this way has excellent characteristics as regards its appearance, its "hand", its lightness of weight, its velvetyness, its stability in the presence of light and the nitrogen oxides present in the the atmosphere.

According to the present invention, such a microfibrous, nonwoven material, or similar microfibrous, nonwoven, optionally perforated material is (are) coupled to produce new articles which combine excellent aesthetic properties with good mechanical characteristics, so as to be suitable for use in the field of interior decoration and transport.

The fabrics used for this purpose are knitted fabrics, or fabrics of various kinds, for example of cotton, polyester, nylon, viscose, etc., or of mixed fibers, of compositions chosen according to the desired final properties. Fabrics can be raw or dyed or printed. The dyed or printed fabrics, bearing various ornamental designs, associated with the nonwoven microfibrous material, give end articles that are particularly attractive from an aesthetic point of view. In addition, one and / or the other of the constituents of the composite article may have flame retardant characteristics.

The composite articles according to the present invention are advantageous in the field of interior decoration and in the field of transport, and can be used for sofas, for office seats, for automobile seats, etc.

In the case of a non-woven, microfibrous and non-perforated material, it can advantageously be mated with the fabric by means of the following tsulti-dot technique.

The fabric, in the form of reels previously prepared, is advanced by means of a feeding device to a machine of the Caratsch type which consists of an engraved hollow cylinder and heated, inside which is sent the powder of the adhesive agent of the polyamide or polyester type. Thanks to the effect of the heating under control, the cylinder deposits, by contact, "points" of adhesive agent on the fabric. The fabric thus obtained with the adhesive agent spots which are deposited passes through an infrared ray oven inside which the points of the adhesive agent are able to melt, then the above-mentioned fabric with the dots. The molten adhesive agent is associated with the microfibrous, nonwoven material by a coupling operation on a calender provided with rubber-coated rolls and under the action of a controlled pressure.

When using a microfibrous, nonwoven, perforated material, the adhesive agent is applied to said material rather than to the fabric. More particularly, such a perforated material is advanced on a conveyor belt constituted by a net-like belt, to a "sieve" type dispenser which makes it possible to evenly distribute the adhesive agent powder while the part powder falling inside the opening of the hole passes through the net which forms the belt of the conveyor and is collected in the underlying region. The microfibrous material, still on the conveyor belt, is then advanced to an oven at a carefully adjusted temperature so that the adhesive agent melts.

The association with the fabric is effected by means of calendering on the nonwoven microfibrous material as soon as it leaves the oven.

The nonwoven microfibrous material can be perforated by means of presses provided with punches mounted on a plate.

The "chips" are expelled with an air jet.

The present invention will be further described by way of the following experimental examples.
