Abstract
Un applicateur de tampon à deux éléments est emballé de façon compacte, et comprend un premier élément séparé et un second élément séparé, le premier et le second étant de longueur comparable. Les premier et second éléments sont emballés à l'origine côte à côte. L'applicateur comprend en outre une pluralité de pattes espacées soit sur le premier élément soit sur le second élément pour retenir l'un de ceux-ci dans l'autre quand ces éléments sont assemblés dans leur position opérationnelle. Le procédé d'assemblage de l'applicateur comprend la saisie des premier et second éléments, l'alignement manuel de ces premier et second éléments et leur déplacement axial de manière que ces premier et second éléments coulissent l'un par rapport à l'autre de façon télescopique dans la position opérationnelle.
Description
Applicateur compact pour tampon La présente invention concerne de façon
générale un applicateur de tampon et plus particulièrement un applicateur de tampon comprenant en tant que composants un plongeur séparé et un barillet séparé qui peuvent être emballés de façon compacte et ensuite facilement assemblés l'un à l'autre par une consommatrice avant leur utilisation. Le type d'applicateur de tampon qui a été très largement accepté est un type dans lequel l'applicateur comprend deux tubes dont l'un, normalement le plongeur, est adapté à se déplacer télescopiquement à l'intérieur de l'autre tube ou barillet. Le tampon est normalement logé dans l'extrémité avant du barillet et, pour fonctionner correctement, le plongeur est dimensionné pour pénétrer par l'extrémité arrière du barillet et s'étendre sensiblement sur la totalité de la longueur du barillet pour éjecter le tampon. En conséquence, l'applicateur lui-même est d'environ deux à deux fois et demi plus long que le tampon, constituant une longueur totale de l'ordre de 11,5 à 12,7 cm (4 1/2 à 5 pouces). Bien que ce type d'applicateur fonctionne bien, on a constaté
qu'il était parfois difficile à être utilisé avec discrétion.
Pendant la période menstruelle, il est recommandé que les femmes changent fréquemment de tampons. Donc, il est nécessaire pour les femmes actives actuelles de transporter des tampons de rechange. Il existe donc une nécessité pour un tampon conservant son efficacité mais de dimensions réduites, facile à utiliser, peu gênant et commode à emporter avec soi, par exemple dans un sac à main. En outre, il existe - 2- le désir de disposer d'un produit de ce type qui n'augmente pas sensiblement les coûts de fabrication ou la durée de production d'un tel applicateur. De nombreuses tentatives ont été faites pour réduire la longueur d'ensemble de l'applicateur, et on a constaté que toutes les solutions proposées jusqu'ici étaient assez coûteuses et que nombre
d'entre elles étaient difficiles à utiliser.
Diverses tentatives pour réduire la dimension de l'applicateur ont compris le fait de rétracter initialement le premier tube télescopique dans le second ou autre tube. Des exemples de ce type d'applicateur sont montrés dans le brevet US No 3 101 713 au nom de Sargent, délivré le 27 Août 1963; le brevet US No 4 198 978 au nom de Nigro, délivré le 22 Avril 1980, le brevet US No 4 276 881 au nom de Lilsonitkul, délivré le 7 Juillet 1981; le brevet US No 4 286 595 au nom de Ring, délivré le 1er Septembre 1981 et le brevet US No 4 291 696 au nom de Ring, délivré le 19 Septembre 1981. Ces applicateurs exigent des techniques de moulage compliquées et sont donc assez coûteux à produire. En outre, ils ont tous besoin de plusieurs manoeuvres pour les utiliser, telles que la traction du premier tube hors du second tube, puis le blocage des tubes dans la position opérationnelle déployée avant utilisation, ces manoeuvres pouvant présenter certaines difficultés pour l'utilisatrice. En outre, l'applicateur télescopique rétracté exige nécessairement que l'un des composants tel que le plongeur soit remisé initialement entre le barillet et la compresse du tampon. Donc, il faut qu'un espace existe pour ce remisage. Donc, l'une au moins des alternatives suivantes est nécessaire. La première alternative est que le barillet ait une section supérieure à celle d'un barillet de dimensions classiques pour contenir le plongeur. La seconde alternative est que la compresse du tampon soit de section plus petite pour pouvoir se disposer dans le barillet de dimensions classiques. La troisième alternative est que l'épaisseur de paroi du plongeur soit plus mince que celle d'un plongeur de dimensions classiques. Cette dernière alternative dépend du jeu qui existe entre le barillet et la compresse et l'épaisseur minimale de la paroi du plongeur qui est nécessaire pour déterminer l'éjection de la compresse. Donc, la troisième alternative 3- pourrait le plus vraisemblablement être combinée à l'une des deux autres alternatives, à condition naturellement que la paroi du plongeur
puisse être rendue plus mince.
La première alternative n'est pas souhaitable car le fait d'augmenter la dimension du barillet rend ce dernier plus large et donc plus difficile à insérer et de ce fait probablement plus inconfortable pour l'utilisatrice pendant l'insertion. La seconde alternative n'est pas souhaitable car pour réduire la section de la compresse du tampon tout en conservant le même poids ou la même quantité de matériau, il faut que la compresse soit plus comprimée. Ceci rend cette compresse plus dure et donc plus inconfortable pour l'utilisatrice. La troisième alternative n'est pas souhaitable car la réduction de l'épaisseur de paroi du plongeur rend ce dernier moins rigide et elle peut donc avoir un effet sur l'éjection de la compresse formant le tampon depuis
l'applicateur. Donc, l'efficacité de l'applicateur se trouve réduite.
Une autre approche pour réduire les dimensions de l'applicateur d'un tampon a compris des applicateurs dans lesquels les composants constitués par le plongeur et le barillet sont reliés l'un à l'autre par une charnière, tel que l'applicateur montré dans le brevet US No 4 269 187 au nom de Sakurai et al., délivré le 26 Mai 1981. Cependant, ces types d'applicateurs, en raison de leur rigidité insuffisante, peuvent exiger une augmentation indésirable de la force de
l'utilisatrice pour éjecter le tampon.
D'autres tentatives pour réduire les dimensions de l'applicateur comprennent le fait de fournir le plongeur et le barillet détachés et d'exiger l'assemblage des composants avant leur utilisation. Ces types d'applicateurs peuvent facilement devenir des produits commerciaux et réduisent le problème de longueur associé à l'applicateur de tampon unitaire classique. Cependant, ces applicateurs soulèvent d'autres problèmes. Un problème principal vient de la capacité du barillet et du plongeur à rester en place après assemblage. Un second problème est posé par la possibilité de disposer le cordon du tampon en un emplacement non gênant à l'intérieur de l'applicateur assemblé. Un troisième problème consiste en le maintien d'une force d'éjection du tampon relativement faible, associée à l'applicateur de tampon -4 - unitaire. Un quatrième problème consiste en la capacité de retirer le plongeur tout en retenant avantageusement le barillet dans l'emballage de manière à éviter que l'utilisatrice touche le barillet de l'applicateur. Les tentatives pour résoudre ces problèmes ont entralné une modification radicale du barillet et du plongeur, ou des deux, ou l'adjonction d'un nouveau composant, pour retenir positivement le plongeur dans le barillet. Ces modifications ont fortement augmenté les coûts de fabrication et de production du produit commercial. En outre, ces types d'applicateurs peuvent augmenter la force de friction nécessaire pour faire coulisser le plongeur dans le barillet et ont
donc augmenter la force nécessaire pour éjecter le tampon.
Par exemple, le brevet US No 3 674 026 au nom de Werner et al, délivré le 4 Juillet 1972, concerne un dispositif d'insertion de tampon exigeant un nouveau composant qui est un capuchon, pour permettre à la tige ou plongeur d'insertion d'être reliée au barillet et pour déterminer le positionnement du cordon. Spécifiquement, le dispositif d'insertion comprend un barillet comportant une extrémité de pointe segmentée et conique, un capuchon en forme de disque adapté à fermer l'extrémité opposée du barillet, et une tige d'insertion pouvant être retirée. Le capuchon est également muni d'une première ouverture disposée centralement pour recevoir la tige d'insertion et d'une seconde ouverture disposée marginalement et dans laquelle est placé le
cordon de tampon.
On notera que dans certains applicateurs traditionnels de même longueur, l'extrémité du plongeur située dans le barillet comporte une bride pour maintenir le plongeur dans le barillet. Voir par exemple le brevet US No 2 476 956 au nom de Bonham, délivré le 26 Juillet 1949; le brevet US No 2 854 978 au nom de Millman et al, délivré le 7 Octobre 1958; le brevet US No 3 895 634 au nom de Berger et al, délivré le 22 Juillet 1975, et les tampons commerciaux vendus par Playtex Family Products, Inc., sous la marque déposée de PLAYTEX (de Playtex Apparel, Inc.). Voir également le brevet US No 4 479 791 au nom de Sprague, délivré le 30 Octobre 1984, dans lequel des saillies ont été prévues dans la paroi interne du barillet et adaptées à se disposer dans une -'5- gorge constituée dans la paroi externe du plongeur pour maintenir ce dernier dans le barillet. Dans ces applicateurs traditionnels de grande longueur, le plongeur est assemblé en usine dans le barillet par le fabricant. Donc, il n'est pas possible que pendant l'assemblage par la consommatrice aient lieu des dégâts ou une éjection par inadvertance du
tampon contenu à l'intérieur.
Les applicateurs de tampons traditionnels de grande longueur se sont efforcé de minimiser la force de retenue provoquée par le plongeur coulissant dans le barillet, ou vice versa, en constituant des éléments de positionnement pour positionner et guider efficacement le plongeur pendant son coulissement dans le barillet. Par exemple, le brevet US No 3 015 332 au nom de Brecht, délivré le 2 Janvier 1962, concerne un applicateur de tampon traditionnel de grande longueur comprenant un
plongeur coulissant télescopiquement dans le barillet de l'applicateur.
Spécifiquement, le barillet comprend plusieurs nervures s'étendant axialement sur sa surface interne. Les nervures s'étendent axialement sensiblement sur tout le barillet et s'étendent radialement vers l'intérieur en direction de l'axe central du barillet sur une courte distance pour former des surfaces d'appui sur lesquelles repose le plongeur. Ce brevet ne considère pas le problème posé par une consommatrice positionnant le cordon pendant l'assemblage. De même, comme les surfaces d'appui sont relativement longues, elles sont susceptibles d'augmenter la force de friction indésirable entre les
composants coulissants, et de ce fait la force pour éjecter le tampon.
Le brevet canadien No 1 160 530 au nom de Voss, délivré le 17 Janvier 1984, et qui concerne un applicateur de dimensions traditionnelles, prévoit plusieurs bosses ou lobes faisant saillie vers l'intérieur et disposés selon une relation circonférentielle équidistante autour de la paroi interne du tube ou du barillet de l'applicateur pour guider le plongeur et le produit hygiénique en vue de leur avance longitudinale dans le tube de l'applicateur. Chacune de l'ensemble des bosses est de configuration généralement convexe ou sphérique. Donc et jusqu'ici, on n'a pas proposé un applicateur en deux pièces relativement simple et peu coûteux, se prêtant à un emballage - 6 - compact, comprenant des moyens d'un seul tenant soit avec le plongeur soit avec le barillet pour retenir le plongeur et le barillet à l'état assemblé, et déterminant en outre le positionnement du cordon. De plus, il n'existe pas un applicateur minimisant également la force de coulissement de retenue qui apparalt normalement quand le plongeur
coulisse à l'intérieur du barillet.
Tenant compte de l'arrière-plan qui vient d'être indiqué, un but essentiel de la présente invention est de fournir un applicateur à deux
éléments emballé de façon compacte, pour éjecter un tampon.
Un autre but de la présente invention est de fournir un applicateur dans lequel le barillet et le plongeur sont emballés cate à
c8té, réduisant ainsi la longueur du tampon emballé.
Un autre but encore de la présente invention est de fournir un applicateur permettant des économies importantes de coût de matériaux, combiné à la facilité de l'assemblage par la consommatrice, et dans lequel le positionnement non gênant du cordon de tampon dans
l'applicateur assemblé est automatiquement réalisé.
Un autre but encore de la présente invention est de fournir un applicateur dans lequel l'extrémité du barillet n'est pas touchée
pendant l'assemblage.
Pour atteindre les buts et avantages ci-dessus, l'invention
comprend, en bref, un applicateur de tampon à deux éléments.
L'applicateur à deux éléments comprend un premier élément séparé et un second élément séparé. Les premier et second éléments sont de longueur comparable. Des moyens sont également prévus, constitués soit sur le premier élément soit sur le second élément, pour retenir l'un des éléments, soit le premier soit le second, dans l'autre des éléments, soit le premier soit le second. L'applicateur, quand il est emballé à l'origine, comprend les premier et second éléments disposés côte à côte
dans l'emballage ou pochette.
La présente invention concerne également le procédé d'assemblage d'un tel applicateur de tampon à deux éléments. De façon spécifique, le premier et le second éléments sont alignés, puis l'un de ceux-ci est
coulissé dans l'autre.
Les buts et avantages ci-dessus, et d'autres, de la présente 7-
invention apparaîtront plus clairement à la lecture de la description
détaillée du mode de réalisation préféré de l'invention, en se référant aux dessins annexés dans lesquels: la figure 1 est une vue en perspective d'un mode de réalisation de l'applicateur de la présente invention disposé dans un emballage commercial; la figure 2 est une vue latérale du plongeur du mode de réalisation de la figure 1; la figure 3 est une vue en coupe latérale de l'applicateur de la figure 1 à l'état assemblé; la figure 4 est une vue en coupe selon la ligne 4-4 de la figure 3; la figure 5 est une vue en perspective d'un autre mode de réalisation de l'applicateur de la présente invention; la figure 6 est une vue en coupe latérale de l'applicateur assemblé de la figure 5; la figure 7 est une vue en bout de l'applicateur assemblé de la figure 5; la figure 8 est une vue en coupe agrandie de la région A de la figure 6; et la figure 9 est une vue en perspective de l'applicateur de tampon

En se référant aux figures et en particulier à la figure 1, il est proposé un applicateur de tampon indiqué dans son ensemble par la référence numérique 1. L'applicateur de tampon comprend un barillet séparé 10 et un plongeur séparé 20. Le barillet 10 et le plongeur 20 sont sensiblement de même longueur ou d'une longueur comparable. Dans un produit commercial, le barillet 10 et le plongeur 20 sont emballés à leur état non assemblé, par exemple côte à c6te dans une pochette 50 montrée à la figure 1. La cliente finale, c'est-à-dire la consommatrice, assemble alors l'applicateur I avant son utilisation,
comme montré à la figure 3.
En se référant aux figures 1-3, le barillet 10 constitue un tube -8- creux pour y loger un tampon 30 de dimensions traditionnelles comportant un cordon de tampon 32. Le barillet 10 comprend de préférence une extrémité en forme de pétale 12 par laquelle le tampon est éjecté du barillet, et une extrémité opposée ou de réception de plongeur 14 pour recevoir ce plongeur 20. L'extrémité de réception de plongeur 14 du barillet 10 comprend de préférence une portion de diamètre réduit 16. Spécifiquement, la portion de diamètre réduit 16 comprend de préférence des diamètres interne et externe inférieurs aux diamètres respectifs du reste du barillet 10. Cependant, l'extrémité de réception de plongeur 14 du barillet 10 pourrait présenter un diamètre interne et un diamètre externe, ou les deux, de même dimension que le reste du barillet. L'extérieur de la portion de diamètre réduit 16 du barillet 10 comprend également de préférence une région de saisie par les doigts 18 pouvant comporter une série de nervures, de lignes entaillées, de bossages ou analogues sur la circonférence, servant à la saisie par les doigts et permettant à l'utilisatrice du tampon de saisir facilement l'applicateur. On comprendra que les caractéristiques du tampon et de l'applicateur, telles que la pointe en forme de pétale, la portion de diamètre réduit à l'extrémité du barillet et l'utilisation d'éléments de saisie par les doigts sont bien connues dans l'art, par exemple comme montré dans le brevet US No 3 895 634 au
nom de Berger et al, délivré le 22 Juillet 1975.
Le barillet 10 et le plongeur 20 qui constituent les composants de l'applicateur 1 peuvent être réalisés en une matière plastique appropriée. Une matière plastique préférée est le polyéthylene. On préfère le plus souvent que le barillet 10 soit réalisé en un polyethylene faible densité et que le plongeur 20 soit réalisé en un polyéthylène forte densité, rendant ainsi le barillet plus flexible que le plongeur. En variante, le barillet 10 et le plongeur 20 peuvent être
réalisés en carton.
Comme montré à la figure 2, le plongeur 20 est essentiellement un tube creux et cylindrique et, à l'exception de saillies ou de pattes , présente des sections interne et externe uniformes le long de la totalité de sa longueur. Sur la surface externe du plongeur 20 sont prévues de préférence deux saillies opposées 25 servant au 9- positionnement et au maintien ou à la retenue du plongeur en place dans le barillet 10. Le positionnement précis des saillies 25 sur le plongeur 20 peut légèrement varier, mais le positionnement préféré est aussi proche de l'extrémité 24 du plongeur qui est située du côté du barillet que le permet l'équipement de formation des saillies sur le plongeur. La raison de ce positionnement est d'éviter de gêner le tampon 30 dans le barillet 10 pendant l'assemblage par la consommatrice mais avant don utilisation, et de réduire la longueur du plongeur. On a constaté que la distance du centre de chaque saillie 25 doit être approximativement de 4,76 mn à 9,53 m (3/16 à 3/8 de pouce) à partir
du bord de l'extrémité 24.
Dans le mode de réalisation montré à la figure 2, les saillies 25, comme indiqué.ci-dessus, comprennent de préférence une paire de saillies opposées formées par molletage, poinçonnage ou encochage d'une portion de la surface externe du plongeur 20. Quand on utilise ces techniques de molletage, poinçonnage ou encochage, il est relativement facile et peu coûteux de former les saillies 25 sur le plongeur 20. On comprendra que l'on puisse utiliser une ou trois ou plusieurs saillies, et que l'on préfère une paire de saillies 25 du fait qu'elles servent à maintenir le plongeur 20 en position dans le barillet 10 tout en réduisant le nombre de points de contact entre le plongeur et le barillet. Le fait de réduire le nombre de points de contact est souhaitable car plus le nombre de points est élevé, plus la force de friction qui doit être surmontée pour faire coulisser le plongeur 20
dans le barillet 10 et éjecter le tampon 30 du barillet est importante.
L'utilisation d'une paire de saillies opposées 25 positionne également le plongeur en alignement axial direct avec le barillet 10, ce qui fait que la distance radiale de l'espace 40 est uniforme. Donc, le plongeur est moins susceptible de venir heurter la surface interne du barillet 10 pendant son fonctionnement, car ce choc augmenterait la force nécessaire pour éjecter le tampon 30 du barillet. En outre, l'utilisation d'une paire de saillies 25 détermine plus d'espace, ce qui facilite le positionnement du cordon de tampon 32 dans l'espace 40
pendant l'assemblage de l'applicateur 1.
En se référant à la figure 4, les dimensions effectives du

diamètre externe du plongeur 20 et du diamètre interne du barillet 10 peuvent varier. Cependant, la relation entre ces diamètres doit être telle que le diamètre externe du plongeur 20 soit légèrement inférieur au diamètre interne du barillet 10, ou du composant contenant le tampon, pour créer l'espace 40 entre eux. L'espace 40 sert à permettre de faire coulisser facilement le plongeur 20 dans le barillet 10 sans venir en contact ou heurter la surface interne du barillet. Il est préférable que le diamètre externe du plongeur 20 soit d'environ 7,19 mm + 0,38 mm (0, 283 + 0,15 pouce) et que le diamètre interne du
barillet soit d'environ 9,02 mm + 0,38 mm (0,355 + 0,015 pouce).
Chacune des saillies 25 s'étend radialement vers l'extérieur de la surface externe du plongeur sur une distance égale ou légèrement supérieure à l'espace 40, de manière que la pointe de chaque saillie vienne juste toucher la surface interne du barillet 10. Dans un mode de réalisation préféré, les saillies s'étendent radialement vers l'extérieur sur environ 1,02 mm + 0,38 mm (0,040 + 0,015 pouce), venant ainsi juste en contact avec la surface interne du barillet 10. En conséquence, le plongeur 20 reste en position et ne tombe pas, bien qu'il ne lui soit opposé qu'une résistance minime quand il coulisse dans le barillet. L'espace 40 sert également à permettre le positionnement du cordon de tampon 32 entre le plongeur 20 et le barillet 10. Du fait des saillies 25, on a constaté que lorsqu'on essaye d'insérer le plongeur dans la position de fonctionnement, c'est-à-dire dans le barillet 1.0, le cordon de tampon 32 vient tomber automatiquement et naturellement dans l'espace 40, dans la région
située entre les saillies 25.
La figure 5 montre un second mode de réalisation préféré qui est analogue au mode de réalisation de la figure 1 du fait que le barillet et le plongeur 20 sont disposés côte à côte dans la pochette 50 du tampon. Le barillet 10 comprend une extrémité d'éjection de tampon 12, qui est de préférence en forme de pétale, et une extrémité de réception de plongeur 14, de préférence avec la portion de diamètre réduit 16, comme montré à la figure 6. De même, l'extérieur de l'extrémité de réception de plongeur 14 comprend une région de saisie par les doigts
18 qui peut être disposée sur la portion de diamètre réduit 16.

Comme montré à la la figure 6, le plongeur 20 de ce mode de réalisation présente une section cylindrique uniforme sur toute sa longueur axiale. Par ailleurs, le plongeur 20 a un diamètre externe qui est légèrement plus petit que le diamètre interne du barillet 10 de manière à former un espace circonférentiel 40 entre le plongeur et le barillet. Comme montré aux figures 6 et 7, le barillet 10 comprend sur sa surface interne des saillies ou pattes 25. Les pattes 25 sont situées dans l'extrémité de réception de plongeur 14 du barillet 10 et aussi près que possible du bord de l'extrémité de réception de plongeur que le permet l'équipement de fabrication du barillet. On a constaté que des pattes 25 peuvent être placées sur le bord effectif de l'extrémité de réception de plongeur 14 du barillet 10. Les pattes 25 s'étendent sur la surface interne du barillet 10 et radialement vers l'intérieur en direction de l'axe central de ce barillet 10. Bien que l'on puisse utiliser deux ou plusieurs pattes, on préfère utiliser quatre pattes pour assurer un alignement et une retenue optimale du plongeur 20 dans le barillet 10. Il est également préférable que les pattes soient espacées à distances égales. Entre chaque paire adjacente de pattes 25 est formé un Jeu 28 qui sert de région de réception de cordon de tampon dans l'espace 40 formé par la surface interne du barillet 10 et la
surface externe du plongeur 20.
Comme pour les saillies ou pattes 25 du mode de réalisation de la figure 1, les saillies ou pattes 25 du mode de réalisation de la figure 5 s'étendent radialement vers l'intérieur sur une distance égale à ou légèrement supérieure à la distance radiale de l'espace 40. En conséquence, la pointe 29 de chaque patte 25 est en contact avec la surface externe du plongeur 20 pour maintenir ce dernier en place dans le barillet 10. Dans ce mode de réalisation, il est préférable que chaque patte 25 s'étende radialement vers l'intérieur sur une distance d'environ 1,14 mm à 1,22 mm (0,045 à 0,048 pouce). On a constaté que lorsque le plongeur 20 a un diamètre externe d'environ 7,18 mm + 0,38 mm (0,283 + 0, 015 pouce) et le barillet un diamètre interne d'environ 9,02 -n + 0,38 mm (0,355 + 0,015 pouce), les pattes 25 ne se pressent que légèrement contre la surface externe du plongeur. En conséquence,

la force de friction entre le barillet 10 et le plongeur 20 est rendue
minime pendant le fonctionnement.
Chaque patte 25 est relativement mince en direction axiale et, comme montré à la figure 8, comprend une pointe circulaire et arrondie 29. Cette caractéristique sert également à réduire la force de friction créée quand le plongeur coulisse dans le barillet pendant l'éjection du tampon et l'assemblage de l'applicateur du fait que les pattes ont la possibilité de se plier, c'est-à-dire d'agir à la manière de charnières. Il est préférable que la dimension axiale de la pointe 29
soit comprise entre environ 0,20 mm et 0,28 mm (0,008 et 0,011 pouce).
En se référant à nouveau à la figure 1, lorsque la partie supérieure de la pochette 50 du tampon est retirée, l'extrémité de réception de plongeur 14 du barillet 10 et l'autre extrémité 23 qui est à l'opposé de l'extrémité 24 du barillet (voir figure 2) du plongeur 10
sont exposées.
Pour assembler l'applicateur de tampon dans le mode de réalisation de la figure 1 et de la figure 5 de l'état désassemblé montré aux figures 1 et 5 respectivement et l'aligner à l'état ou position opérationnelle montrée aux figures 1 et 6 respectivement, l'utilisatrice, comme montré à la figure 9, saisit de préférence la portion principale ou portion contenant le barillet par la pochette 50 entre le pouce et l'index d'une main, et saisit avec l'autre main l'extrémité opposée de la pochette (l'extrémité qui est la plus proche de l'extrémité 23 du plongeur et de l'extrémité 14 du barillet 10) pour arracher la pochette et exposer le tampon désassemblé. Le plongeur 20 est alors retiré de la pochette 50 et l'extrémité 24, qui n'est pas saisie, est alignée avec l'extrémité de réception de plongeur 14 du barillet 10. Le plongeur 20 et le barillet 10 sont alors déplacés axialement ensemble en déplaçant l'un ou les deux composants. Ainsi, le procédé d'assemblage préféré permet à l'utilisatrice d'assembler l'applicateur de tampon sans toucher avec ses doigts l'extrémité
d'éjection de tampon ou l'extrémité fonctionnelle 12 du barillet 10.
Pendant cet assemblage, le cordon de tampon tombe automatiquement
dans l'espace situé entre les pattes, comme montré aux figures 4 et 7.
L'espace formant le jeu, quand l'applicateur est à l'état assemblé, est

constitué par une portion de l'espace 40. Ensuite, le plongeur et le
barillet assemblés sont retirés de la pochette 50.
Dans le mode de réalisation de la figure 1, l'utilisatrice saisit le plongeur 20 par l'extrémité 23 pour insérer l'extrémité opposée ou en saillie 24 dans l'extrémité de réception de plongeur 14 du barillet. Cette orientation est nécessaire dans ce mode-de réalisation pour être certain que l'extrémité en saillie 24 est bien positionnée dans l'extrémité de réception de plongeur 14 du barillet 10. Les saillies 25 de l'extrémité 24 viennent en engagement par friction avec la surface interne de l'extrémité de réception de plongeur 14 du barillet 10 pour
positionner et maintenir le plongeur en place dans le barillet.
Dans le mode de réalisation de la figure 5, les pattes sont situées sur le c8té interne du barillet 10. Il est important que l'utilisatrice puisse saisir soit l'extrémité 23 soit l'extrémité 24 du plongeur 20. Ainsi, l'orientation du plongeur nécessité par le mode de réalisation de lafigure 1 n'est pas nécessaire dans ce mode de réalisation de la figure 5. Dans ce mode de réalisation également, les pattes 25 s'infléchissent en direction de l'extrémité en forme de pétale 12 du barillet 10 quand le plongeur 20 vient en contact avec les
pattes pour positionner fiablement le plongeur dans le barillet.
Ayant ainsi décrit l'invention en se référant particulièrement à des modes de réalisation préférés, il est clair que diverses modifications et variantes peuvent être apportées sans s'écarter de
l'esprit et du champ d'application de l'invention.

Claims (11)
1. Applicateur à deux éléments pour tampon, comprenant: un premier élément séparé; un second élément séparé, ledit premier élément et ledit second élément étant de longueur comparable, dans lequel ledit premier élément et ledit second élément sont initialement emballés côte à cSte; et des moyens, placés soit sur le premier élément soit sur le second élément, pour retenir l'un desdits premier ou second éléments en relation télescopique avec l'autre desdits premier et second éléments
quand ces premier et second éléments sont assemblés.
2. Applicateur de tampon selon la revendication 1, dans lequel l'un desdits premier et second éléments présente une surface extérieure, et dans lequel lesdits moyens de retenue sont formés sur
ladite surface extérieure de l'un desdits premier et second éléments.
3. Applicateur de tampon selon la revendication 1, dans lequel l'un desdits premier ou second éléments comprend une surface intérieure, et dans lequel lesdits moyens de retenus sont formés sur
ladite surface intérieure de l'un desdits premier ou second éléments.
4. Applicateur de tampon selon la revendication 1, dans lequel lesdits moyens de retenue comprennent plusieurs pattes espacées et
faisant saillie radialement.
5. Ensemble de tampon comprenant: un tampon comportant un cordon; un barillet séparé pour loger le tampon; et un plongeur séparé, ledit plongeur et ledit barillet ayant des longueurs comparables; et des moyens formés soit sur le barillet soit sur le plongeur pour retenir le plongeur dans le barillet selon une relation télescopique quand le barillet et le plongeur sont assemblés, dans lequel lesdits moyens de retenue comprennent une pluralité de pattes espacées et en saillie radiale, chaque paire adjacente de ladite pluralité de pattes définissant un jeu qui est adapté à recevoir le cordon du tampon selon une relation de non interférence entre les surfaces relativement
mobiles du plongeur et du barillet.
6. Applicateur de tampon selon la revendication 5, comprenant en

outre une pochette pour l'ensemble du tampon adaptée à être désassemblée en deux parties, dans lequel le barillet reste dans l'une des deux parties séparées pendant l'assemblage du barillet et du plongeur.
7. Applicateur de tampon selon la revendication 5, dans lequel le barillet comprend une surface interne, et dans lequel lesdits moyens de
retenue sont formés sur la surface interne du barillet.
8. Applicateur de tampon selon la revendication 7, dans lequel lesdits moyens de retenue comprennent une pluralité de pattes espacées
de façon égale.
9. Applicateur de tampon selon la revendication 8, dans lequel chacune de ladite pluralité de pattes comprend une pointe, chaque pointe ayant une dimension axiale d'environ 0,20 mmn à 0,28 mm (0,008 à
0,011 pouce).
10. Applicateur de tampon selon la revendication 5, dans lequel le plongeur présente une surface extérieure, et dans lequel lesdits moyens
de retenue sont formés sur ladite surface extérieure du plongeur.
11. Procédé pour assembler un applicateur de tampon à deux éléments, ledit applicateur de tampon comprenant: un élément constitué par un barillet cylindrique; un élément constitué par un plongeur, lesdits éléments constitués par le plongeur et le barillet étant de longueur comparable; et des moyens, formés soit sur le plongeur soit sur le barillet, pour retenir ledit plongeur dans le barillet selon une relation télescopique quand le plongeur et le barillet sont assemblés dans leur position opérationnelle; ledit procédé comprenant les étapes consistant à: saisir au moins l'un des éléments constitués par le plongeur et le barillet; aligner manuellement le plongeur et le barillet; et déplacer axialement le plongeur et le barillet ensemble de manière que le plongeur et le barillet coulissent l'un par rapport à l'autre et
soient maintenus télescopiquement dans la position opérationnelle.
