Abstract

Non-impact printer drum of the type comprising at least one light source adapted to produce a light ray, deflection means 3 adapted to receive the light ray and return it towards the said drum 4 which is electrically charged and adapted to be excited by the light ray, and a printing-liquid source 9 adapted to be supplied to the said drum, characterised in that the peripheral surface of the printer drum 4 consists of a series of bars 6 which are spaced apart and parallel to its longitudinal axis z-z' and are adapted to come into contact with the printing liquid source 9 so that there is formed, by surface tension, a film of printing liquid from one longitudinal edge of each bar to the opposite longitudinal edge of the neighbouring bar, the light ray 2' exciting this film of liquid and electrifying it in places along the middle longitudinal axis of the said film, the film of material 11 to be printed passing between the electrified film and an edge 10 of opposite charge so that the film bursts, its electrified points being attracted by the edge and being deposited on the said material, the said residual liquid, of the same charge as the edge, being thrown back towards the inside of the printer drum.
