Abstract
PURPOSE:To express the lights and slades of a printed image with one nozzle by a method wherein drops of ink deflected to one side and the following drops of ink are solidified by acting coulomb force between them. CONSTITUTION:Drops of ink jetted from a nozzle 1a of a charge deflection type ink jet printer are charged selectively, for example, drops of ink (1), (10) are charged negatively and deflected in a B direction of the recordpaper 6, drops of ink (6), (8) are charged positively and deflected in an A direction of the recording paper 6 and positive small charges are given to drops of ink (2), (11). Hereby, drops of ink (1), (2) and drops of ink (10), (11) attract each other, these drops of ink are combined into one drop before they are deflected by deflecting electrodes 4a, 4b, fly in the B direction of the recording paper 6 to prepare a concentrated image on the recording paper. Drops of ink (3), (4), (5), (7), (9) which are not charged advance straight and are caughted by a gutter 10.
