Abstract

The press is used to staple and smooth a skirt of leather strip, mounted on a contoured plate. Staples are fed by a continuous belt and there is a double bent vertical lever arm operated by a pneumatic piston. This works with a toothed area in the staple outlet. These act as a pincer on the leather strip, pressing on the lower points. The staple outlet engages the front of a longitudinal staple magazine and operates on vertical pivoted cranks. These form a parallelogram shaped support which gives reciprocating movement.
