Abstract

Pack with a base formed with integral pillars or ribs to hold and separate a gp. of eggs, fruits or other fragile articles is provided with an ancillary cover comprising a flat top with oblique panels on two opposed edges which end in stepped borders to engage individual slots or pockets along the respective borders of the base. The crown of the cover is opt. perforated and/or printed or covered with informative or decorative patterns or characters. The clearance between the cover and the items supported by the base is insufficient to allow the items to shift from their respective locations in the base. The cover is strong enough to permit stacking, offers more scope for displaying labels etc. than covers profiled to positively enclose and separate the upper parts of each item supported by the lower tray, and allows the contents to be inspected, from the sides on which the lid does not have oblique panels and/or through perforations in the cover. The pack base and lid are made from conventional materials, e.g. formed pulp or thermoplastic sheet, opt. are enclosed overall by a (transparent) flexible film.
