Abstract

The tether for dogs comprises a rod (4) having a snap clip on one end, for engaging a collar worn by the dog, and a head on the other end for engaging a (compression) spring (13) in a rigid tube secured to a fixed crossbar (1) for securing several anchorages outside a shop while allowing each to have angular freedom. The spring-loaded tether allows the dog some extra freedom of movement, while persistently inducing it to maintain a position close to the fixed anchorage, to relieve the tension on the collar. The rigid tube, enclosing the spring, and the optional crossbar, for multiple anchorages are extruded profiles made from a plastics material.

Description

Dog clip
The subject of the invention is, in general, a dog tie, and more precisely, a device making it possible to tie a dog at a fixed point.

Dogs must, in fact, often be tied up so that they cannot move beyond a given perimeter. This is particularly the case in places where the movement of dogs is prohibited: this is the case, for example, in many stores, public places and the like, where rules require that dogs stay outside. Means are then sometimes provided to allow the owners of these animals to fix them outside. These means consist, most often, of simple hooks, rings or bars that the owner of the dog uses for fixing the leash. The fixation thus produced is however insufficient because the knot made by the user by means of the loose leash very often, thus freeing the dog.

The invention overcomes this drawback. It relates to a fastening system in which a carabiner, or other means of attachment, is connected to a bar by an elastic system such that, if the dog exerts traction by its leash, this system is subjected to an extension such that the dog, feeling the effort opposed to its movement, returns to its original position and then calmly awaits its owner.

The invention will be well understood moreover, and its advantages, as well as other characteristics, will emerge clearly from the description which follows, with reference to the schematic drawings provided, representing, by way of nonlimiting example, a form of execution of this positive tethering device for dogs
- Figure 1 is a perspective view, in position of use
- Figures 2 and 3 are, on a larger scale, views in longitudinal section, respectively in the rest state and in the extended state.

In Figure 1, (1) denotes a bar which is fixed horizontally to a wall or other fixed support (2).

The means for fixing this bar (1) can be any; in the case shown, they consist of collars (3) which are advantageously provided with means allowing their opening, so that the bar (1) can, at will, be put in place and removed, on a wall or other support ( 2). This removable bar (1) allows, in particular, for example a store owner to remove this bar during the closing hours of his store.

On the bar (1), fasteners (4) are fixed, the number of which can be any, namely 4 in the case shown in FIG. 1.

Each of the fasteners (4) consists of a tube (5), the attachment to the bar (1) is achieved for example by means of a ring (6), which gives a certain mobility to the tube (5) by compared to the bar (1). This tube (5) is closed at its free end by a plug (7) which has a central channel through which the two strands of a cable (8) pass.

This cable itself passes through the orifice (9) of the carabiner (10); and its two ends are fixed in a tip (12) of the "cable clamp" type. Between this end piece (12) and the tubular plug (7), is interposed over the entire length of the two strands of the cable (8), a helical spring (13), which is housed inside the tube (5), l 'end piece (12) itself sliding inside this tube (5). A washer (14) is advantageously interposed between the end piece (12) and the corresponding end of the spring (13) to serve as a support for this end of the spring.

When the fastener is not subjected to any tensile force, the carabiner (10) is in abutment at the free end of the tube (5), more precisely against the external face of the tubular plug (7), in this position, the spring (13) is subjected to a certain compression between the plug (7) and the locking washer (14).

When, as shown in Figure 1, a dog is hooked by its leash (15) to the carabiner (10) and exerts no traction on the fastening system (4), the tube (5), the cable (8 ), the stop system (12-14) and the spring (13) occupy the relative position shown in Figure 2.

On the other hand, if the dog exerts by its leash (15) a traction on the carabiner (10), the cable (8) and the stop system (12-14) then cause a compression of the spring (13) which is supported fixed on the tubular plug (7) of the tube (5). The dog then feels an effort that opposes its movement. This effort is analogous to the recall effort that any master imposes on his dog, by means of the leash, to calm or immobilize him. The dog thus feels the return movement imposed on it by the fastening system (4) and returns to its original position.

It goes without saying that the invention is not limited to the sole embodiment of this attachment system for dogs which has been indicated above by way of example; it embraces, on the contrary, all the variant embodiments, whatever in particular the nature and the means of realization of each of the elements entering into the constitution of this attachment system; and it is thus particularly that the tube (5) of each fastener, as well as the bar (1) can be made of extruded synthetic resin.
