Abstract

The conveyor chain comprises alternate wide (1) and narrow (2) links, each made of two parallel rectangular plates (3,4,8,9) connected at their extremities. The pairs of link plates are connected by coaxial axles (5,6) and tubes (10) respectively. A freely mounted sleeve (12) strengthens the link joint and the axle contains a reserve supply of grease (13). Drillings (15,17) connect the grease supply to both the axle to tube and the tube-to-sleeve interfaces. An annular chamber (16) may be provided in the tube bore in the vicinity of the drillings, whilst a plug (14) screwed into the axle gives access to the grease supply.
