Abstract
Description
The subject of the present invention is, as a new industrial product, a system for producing insulating glazing with non-gaseous material between panes, making it possible to avoid the many drawbacks and difficulties of conventional insulating glazing in terms of manufacture, handling, installation, reliability over time; these drawbacks are in particular the following: - systematic manufacturing at the dimensions supplied by the customer, therefore impossibility of large series; - careful and delicate adaptation of a peripheral system with two, three, or four components; - great fragility of the glazing thus formed; - systematic loss of glazing at the slightest break or crack, with no possibility of recovery; - long lead times for orders, manufacturing, transport, delivery and installation for the replacement of insulating glass; - risk of condensation between panes with the only remedy replacing the glazing; - great difficulties in producing insulating glass in situ from simple glazing in place ...
The present invention consists in replacing the dry air layer with peripheral closure by a non-rigid synthetic or natural transparent mass.
This transparent mass being sandwiched between two sheets of glass, the insulation performance therefore depends on the thickness of the transparent mass.
This transparent mass may be presented either in the form of plates which may additionally be glued or self-adhesive, in which case the manufacture of the insulating glazing may be done by simple pressing, either in liquid or pasty form, with one or more components which, after reaction chemical, will form a flexible mass, the adhesion of the mass on the glass sheets being obtained during and due to this chemical reaction.
With this system it is therefore possible to produce insulating glazing in sheets of standard dimensions which can then be cut to the desired dimensions: it is sufficient to do this that the tools are provided so that the cuts on the panes are perfectly face to face and that after a very small movement sufficient for the breaking of the panes, movement allowed by the flexibility of the transparent mass, the glazing is released from the entire sheet by cutting the flexible transparent mass with a very fine cutting tool, like a blade Shaver. The cutting of this mass will be very clean because the cutting tool will be guided by the breaking of the panes, this avoiding any burrs which could risk subsequently causing a breakage in the flexible mass.
With this system it is possible to vary the insulation performance, either by varying the thicknesses of the glasses or of the flexible mass, or by adding one or more sheets of glass with the insulating interlayer masses, or even by combining several of these factors.
These flexible transparent masses not being in contact with the air or on the surface: protection by glasses; nor on the edge: protection by bath of putty on installation, their longevity depends only on their stability to the rays, in particular ultraviolet.
Products, such as silicone-based elastomers, exist which are stable to light and to very aggressive atmospheric agents, guarantee a very long service life of the system, as well as canceling the risks of oxidation of the flexible transparent mass in the event of prolonged storage or installation without mastic bath.
Unless opacity is sought, it is possible to tint the flexible transparent mass in order to obtain a filtering glass, provided that the transparency is affected by the tint.
I1 is obvious that for the realization of this insulating glazing with non-gaseous material between panes, the glass sheets can be replaced by other materials, metacrylate type or others, the system can even be adapted to non-transparent panels.
