Abstract

A child-resistant closure comprises a threaded closure with a pair of external levers hinged at an intermediate level on opposite sides of the closure.The lever limb of each lever has an internal tooth which can engage external radial teeth provided on the container neck below the level of the helical thread for securing a closure on to the container neck. Release of the closure requires a combination of an unscrewing motion plus an intermittent squeezing of the upper ends of both external levers, to pass the positions of the teeth on the container neck. Pref. the external levers are linked by a security strip which has to be broken to first release the cap.
