Abstract

The wind turbine speed is regulated by mounting the vertical shaft in a mounting which allows the wind turbine to tilt so as to alter the angle of attack of the wind and so reduce the speed of the turbine. A counter weight fitted to the vertical shaft below its multi-axis pivot counters the forces exerted by the wind. The turbine tilts from the vertical position about an axle which passes through the turbine shaft and is fixed to an outer ring by pins which allow tilting of the axle about which the shaft tilts. The outer ring has an external toothed wheel attached from which generator drive may be taken, and this ring runs on bearings about a mounting to the support frame.
