Abstract

The solar heat collector consists of a glass bulb (2a,2b or 2c) manufactured in a similar manner to an electric light bulb. The outer shell (3) is transparent and parabolic in form. The absorbing body (4) is sealed to the shell and the enclosed space is under vacuum. The heat collector is mounted on the waterway (6) which is fitted with a metallic support frame (10) which is also parabolic in form. The curvature of the outer shell (3) and the support structure (10) is designed to concentrate the rays of the sun onto the absorber (4). To assist this process either the curved sides of the shell (3) or the support structure (10) may be coated with a reflective material (12). The path of the water flow is directed around the absorber by the aid of inner guide tubes (8). Various forms of absorber may be used including a solid type.
