Abstract

The conveyor vibrates composite steel and concrete railway sleepers (36) in a prodn. line. It has a belt (23) driven roller (20,22,24) conveyor which extends between two elevator vibrator groups (12,16,7,14,18). Each sleeper comprises a steel beam (38) with bearer blocks (40,42) formed by integral concrete filled permanent forms. Elevator gear is duplicated to obtain complete isolation for quiet vibration. Pairs of vertical jacks (50) locate in each group, straddling the sleeper and extend to individually pivot a grappling hook and pull a transverse beam (44) vibrator onto the sleeper, and extending finally to raise the sleeper nominally clear of the rollers.
