Abstract

Taking the form of a metal plate which is aligned vertically and driven into the ground, the fence post anchorage provides a vertical socket (3) for the foot of a post (P), having a linearly undulating profile in horizontal cross section. A partic. detail may use two 'V' sections (1,2) with out turned 'L' flanges and which are welded together so as to form the socket (3). Driving may be effected manually or by hydraulic jack, thrust being applied to a special driving rod which is inserted in the socket. A stop is provided on the rod at a distance from the tip which approximately equals the socket length, being formed by two arms which cantilever horizontally in opposite directions. The arms return squarely down after a definite distance before finally returning externally horizontal, thus, contacting the anchorage and not the socket. Manual driving may be by means of a sliding sleeve dolly which hits the stop.
