Abstract

The panels (1) provide acoustic insulation, comprising an insulating mattress (2) sandwiched between two metal sheets (3,4). The mattress (2) provides relatively large major surface areas to which the sheets are bonded, and the panel is framed by 'U' sections (5,6) fixed between sheet edge outstands. The stiffened edges may be housed by secondary 'U' sections with flange pointing inwards. At corners, one of the housing sections may be inset to accommodate inter panel edge cappings, and the voids formed by the housing section may be filled with insulating material.
