Abstract

Slabs of acoustic absorption material are mounted on rigid supporting panels by complementary nested 'U' section profiles which enclose the edges of the insulation and the edges of both layers of material respectively and opt. retain a cover over the opposite face of the insulation. The supporting layer is of plywood or chipboard, the insulating layer of fibrous mat or synthetic foam and the cover of felt or perforated film or sheet metal, or a mesh. The external (aluminium) channels may incorporate a projecting flange for coupling to adjacent panels of constructing acoustic enclosures. The construction facilitates handling and the fixed dimensions controls the insulation characteristics.
