Abstract

Photometry is used to determine the transparency or opacity of a medi in various biological and bacteriological studies. This allows the state of a phenomena to be determined. Irregularities in existing vessels are compensated for by making several different measurements. The different test tubes (1) are retained in a carrier comprising an upper (3) and lower (4) horizontal plates. Synchronised eccentric drive systems (15) comprising a motor (19) and vertical shafts (17) communicate with the lower plate to agitate the tubes. Fans (29) circulate air to maintain a uniform temperature consistent with the temp. of fluid flowing in sealed chambers (27). A photometric measuring system is carried by a carriage (33) which is moved when a motor (38) drives a pulley (39) around an axis (40). Two arms (45,46) carry luminous emitters (48) whose radiation passes via a tube to a phototransistor (49).
