Abstract

When the larvae are in the state of metamorphosis, grains of material which can be affected by a magnetic field are projected into the water of the rearing basins, and to which the larvae attach themselves. The small shellfish can be manipulated by magnets spreading them evenly over the rearing surface so that they can grow for the maximum amount. They can be arranged in regular rows on a cloth, below which a magnetic plate is inserted to hold them in place while they are positioned in the rearing basin. As they grow, they are rearranged as necessary after removing the plate.
