Abstract

Control circuit for motor vehicles generally, allowing the dashboard instruments to be powered as soon as the car door is opened and without the necessity of switching on the engine ignition. The supply is connected through two pairs of, normally open, contacts (121,122) operated by a relay. This is driven from a delay unit (11) providing a closed condition for, pref. several minutes after the closing of the door switches (10) to ground. Addition of a further delay unit can allow choice of different delay times for opening and closing of the doors. The relay switching circuit is isolated from the normal switched supply (171,172) by the inclusion of series diodes (131,132,141,142,143) in the respective supply lines. The position of the diodes determines which instruments are powered before the ignition is switched on.
