Abstract

The prefabricated load-bearing floor slab acts as a permanent flush soffit form for a suspended reinforced concrete beam and slab floor. The composite slab provides insulation without thermal bridging. Initially, rectangular blocks (10) of insulating material are placed on a bed to define gaps (21) for the beams. A contiguous pre-bent reinforcement mat is positioned, and concrete lower tensile beam halves (75) are placed to connect the blocks (10) and embed the tensile bars (13b). The reinforcement mat is plane with local 'U' shaped troughs at beam locations, incorporating beam reinforcing bars (13a, 13b) at the bends, and inc. a welded fabric steel slab (70). The bars (13a, 13b) are spot welded to the plane fabric and inclined beam steel webs (13c) are also fixed, and the sheet is bent for use.
