Abstract

Container for holding frozen foods includes a deep longitudinal recess in the base so that the vol. of the container can vary in response to freeze/thaw cycles without the overall dimensions of the container and/or its stability when free-standing being disturbed. Alternatively, the recess allows local circulation of coolant air so as to initially freeze the material in the base of the container and thus stabilise the base form, for positional stability, before the bulk of the container contents set. Suitable for e.g. blow moulded polyethylene container for receiving materials such as homogenised egg. Pref. the depth of the recess is >=2 cm.
