Abstract
A touch switch comprises parallel flexible sheets (1, 5) formed on their inner surfaces with opposing printed circuit contacts (2, 4) connected to conductors (3, 6). The contacts (2, 4) are separated by a layer of insulating material (7) having a through hole allowing the upper contact (2) to be deflected into contact with the lower contact (4) by pressure on the upper sheet (1). The two sheets (1, 5) are transparent and the contacts (2, 4) are in the form generally of a circle which is infilled by parallel hatching lines. The lines of the two contacts (2, 4) are at right angles to one another such that light from a light source behind the lower sheet (5) can pass through the contacts and illuminate, for example, a symbol on the upper sheet.
