Abstract

Rigid polypropylene is used for the injection moulding of a cap for a bottle of the tyre having a projecting rib on its neck, beneath which an internal projection on the cap locks into place, so that the top of the cap can only be removed by breaking through a tear-off zone. The tubular section remains permanently on the bottle neck, and this section with the tear off zones and the top of the cap, together with the internal projection, which is inclined towards the opening of the tubular section, are injection moulded in one piece. When withdrawn from the mould, the internal rib is reversed in its alignment by turning it over the zone of narrow cross-section by which it is attached. Expensive and complicated moulding tools are unnecessary and the substitution of polypropylene for the conventional middle density polyethylene ensures that the cap cannot be removed without breaking through the tear off zone.
