Abstract

The shock absorber has a resilient block (1) secured between an upper plate (9) and a lower plate (3). The two plates retain securing screws for attachment to the vehicle chassis and engine casing. The block incorporates a main central cavity and two auxiliary cavities (5 6) which are shallower and forming curved arch seen from above. Each auxiliary cavity is connected to the main circular cavity by a shallow channel (7 8). All cavities and channels are closed by the top plate and contain water acting as a hydraulic medium. The shape of the block matches the arrangement of these cavities and incorporates a circular metal strip (11) around the main cavity and below the auxiliary cavities. The top plate is flanged downwards to grip a reinforcing strip underneath.
