Abstract

Optimising of the recycling of the exhaust gases in a diesel engine is based on increasing the number of recycling levels. Inlet and outlet manifolds (41, 42) are interconnected by an electro magnetically driven valve (47) positioned in a channel (44) between them, the valve having two possible open positions and a closed position. The choice of position is governed by a three position solenoid valve (48, 49) controlled from an electronic circuit (67), by a second three position valve (50, 51) driven from the same circuit and by a third valve (58, 59). Inputs to the circuit are taken from proximity sensors (65, 66) detecting the accelerating pedal position and by a revolution speed sensor (68). Determination of fully or partly open positions via amplifiers, logic gates and the value of inlet manifold pressure.
