Abstract

PURPOSE: To avoid the introduction of unnecessary secondary air by a system in which a negative pressure switch to control a control valve operating electromagnetically, provided in a secondary air inlet path, is closed only by an increase in the pressure difference between the upstream side the downstream side of a throttle valve provided in an air intake path.
CONSTITUTION: An air intake path 1 is provided with a side-way secondary air inlet path 5 leading to an air through the cleaner 4 and a control valve 6 operating electromagnetically to open or close the path 5. The control valve 6 is opened by electrifying a working solenoid 7 and also the solenoid 7 is connected through a negative pressure switch 8 operating in response to the negative pressure of the path 1 and a temperature switch 9 closing upon detection of the temperature (e.g., the temperature of water is 65°C or less) of engine to a power source 10. And, the said negative pressure switch 8 is provided with two negative pressure chambers 15 divided by diaphragms 14, and each of the negative pressure chambers 15 is connected through the paths 16 to negative pressure ports 17 on the upstream and downstream sides of a throttle valve 2.
