Abstract

A combination of radial-ply pneumatic tyre fitted to a wheel is claimed. The tyre has two spaced-part tyre beads, and the wheel rim has 2 spaced-apart bead seatings. Each bead seating has a groove whose opposite flanks converge, defining a gap section with reduced cross-section whereby the beads are held in position in their respective associated groove. Each tyre bead is provided with a non-stretchable reinforcement extending to a relatively inconsiderable degree as far as the lower section of the adjacent tyre sidewall. The tyre beads are practically incompressible.
