Abstract

In an electric iron, the electrical cable is wound round a sprung roller in the iron handle. The roller axis runs along the line of the iron, so that the cable is drawn out to one side. The design gives a self-retracting cable supply, giving easy and comfortable use, with no risk that the cable comes into contact with the heated ironing plate. Pref. the cable roller is located at the rear of the hand grip, as a replaceable unit, mounted to the inner surface of a rear closing plate which also acts as a stand for the iron when not in use. The housing for the cable roller can be integrated into the hand grip. or it can be a separate unit held in place by a click fit.
