Abstract

The decorative hub cap can be locked on to a car wheel and acts as an anti theft device. The boss (1) has a central bolt (2) which when turned moves sliding latches (4) into keepers in the wheel. The lateral movement of the plate (3) is guided by buttons (7) sliding along slots (8) which are fixed to diametrically opposite sides of the inner wall of the plate. The openings are in the form of logarithmic spiral arcs, ending in a circular arc. The hub can be wholly or partly made of a plastic material with a high elastic modulus.
