Abstract
The captive cotter pin (17) and washer (18) assembly is used on telescopically adjustable two-piece scaffolding tube members, being permanently attached to the extension piece (10) of least diameter and having a geometry such that it permanently connects the pin to the washer. The assembly slides on and surrounds the extension piece, and the pin enters alternative longitudinal holes (16) to form a stop which limits the descent of the extension piece (10) into the post (14). The pin may be U-shaped, one leg (22) having a nominal terminal in turn (27), and the other leg (23) curving through 180 deg. to return (24) parallel to the legs. The return (24) is equidistant from the legs and in an offset plane, the washer having an inverted 'L' section flange out. The washer, thus, sits between the legs in the radial sense and between the legs and the return in the axial sense, the gap between the return (24) and the bar (25 nominally exceeding extension tube dia.
