Abstract

A method of regulating the gas at atmospheric conditions inside a reactor containment building consists of feeding the gas into a water ejector pump, where it comes into contact with the water jet and the steam in the gas is thus condensed, the gas cooled and the suspended particles and radioactive substances are transferred into the cold water jet. During normal reactor operation, the temp. humidity, pressure and purity of the gas is controlled. During a reactor fault, the pressure and temp. of the gas are reduced and the purity is controlled. Thus a single time of plant and circuit are used for both the normal operating case and for the emergency case, instead of providing separate water spray coolers for the latter conditions.
