Abstract
The capacitor charging circuit is based on a full-wave bridge rectifier (12, -15) fed from a variable output transformer (1). The transformer may be a two winding type with the secondary tapped off at a number of points selected by a switch (10) or it may be an autotransformer with variable cursor itself feeding a second transformer. The tapping switch or cursor position is altered by a steping motor (19) driven from a control circuit (22) whose output is a function of the output from the potentiometer (24, 25) connected across the capacitor (18). The control circuit employs a reference voltage to determine the required charging voltage.
