PURPOSE:To increase the lifetime of a tap switching controller, by applying the voltage reference value to both a tap switching device and a voltage controller from a setter and accordingly not only simplifying the control of the setter but reducing the fluctuation of the output voltage. CONSTITUTION:A tap switching controller controls consecutively the output voltage in a wide range through both the rough control carried out by switching the tap of a transformer 1 and the fine control by a voltage controller 4 such as a regulator tube, etc. Then a consecutive reference is applied from a setter 5 to tap switching devices 6 and 7 plus the controller 4 of such tap switching controller. The output voltage V and the voltage reference V0 are comparated with each other through a consective control part 8 to give the control to the controller 4. At the same time, the reference V0 is compared with the voltage corresponding to the tap position of the transformer 1 through an on/off control part 6. And when this deviation becomes larger than a prescribed level, the tap switching is successively carried out.
