Abstract

The buckle for a seat belt is in two parts. The first part is a tongue with a locking edge, and the second part is a frame (21) with an insertion socket (20) and an opening (26), into which the tongue is inserted. A locking part (40) is pivot mounted in the frame (21) on a pivot axle (28). The locking part (40) has a manually operated release mechanism (46, 80) for pully the tongue out of the socket (20). A spring (50) works the locking part (40). A housing (61) enables the locking part (40) to be manually operated. The release mechanism (80) pivots on a pivot axle (68).
