Abstract

The electronic time display through a decorative natural or synthetic precious stone is for wrist watch. The stone has a reflective backing layer which prevents the optoelectronic figuring from being seein when not in use and when being illuminated from the front by strong light levels. The jewel (43) has a matching glass plate (44) fitted behind it, its forward or rear surface having a vacuum deposited layer of gold (46) the thickness of which is dependant on the display source colour (41). The jewel is held by claws (42) integral with the wrist watch casing (40) and a sealing ring (45) or rings preventing ingress of foreign matter.
