Abstract

The tractor attachment is used for conveying and distributing silage. A Cardan joint coupled the container to the tractor, and an Archimedean screw is mounted inside the container. This is supported in a bearing (28) at one end mounted in the lateral rigid container wall (29), and at the middle of the shaft by another bearing in a slide (44) at the end of a movable arm (45). Silage is discharged through a sheet metal flap (50) which is pushed back by a pressure produced by rotation of the screw. The flap is sufficiently rigid to prevent escape of silage when the screw is stationary. The large diameter upstream end (46) of the screw shaft is produced by welding a sleeve onto the small diameter shaft (47).
