Abstract

The lightweight demountable rigid cover for a swimming pool utilises interlocking modules of a pitched portal form and each spanning the pool transversely. The short inclined legs have horizontal bases taking support from the pool side, and each module has an inverted 'U' shaped cross-section. The webs return externally at the foot to form rectangular channels which have the dual function of connecting units and leading rainwater to the sides. The web depth may vary uniformly to effect increased depth at mid span and yet maintain channel falls from the ridge. The unit may be opaque, and the channel may be angled to follow the leg incline, thus, improving the inter-unit connection and drainage performance.
